Taking a deep inhale, Ang nodded. "Yeah." Another quick whiff and she went on, "It's like that time we had the bonfire out back of you guys' house. What was the name of that wood? I think the chef cooks the steaks over it for the carnivores who visit."

Mesquite,” Ellie quickly replied. “A lot of chefs use it. It makes the meat taste really good and burns evenly.”

“Look at you,” Ang quipped, her expression going from guarded to a big smile. “I might just let you grill my veggies. I make a mean skewer of fresh mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, zucchini, all the good shit.”

“I’d definitely do that after all you’re doing for me.”

"Aww, kid, it's nuthin'." Motioning with the arm that wasn't around Ellie's shoulders, a swirling trail of silver and gold sparkles flew from her fingertips. Watching as the perfectly manicured bushes heavy with vibrant magenta blooms that Ellie immediately recognized as snapdragons parted, her excitement grew by leaps and bounds as Ang excitedly added, "Welcome to our little oasis, your very own sanctuary, among the redwoods."

"Oh, my Goddess," Ellie gasped. "The pictures you sent didn't come close to doing this place justice. This is… This is…," she inhaled deeply, letting the word slide out on her exhale, "Gorgeous."

And it was. Redwood and gleaming glass as far as the eye could see, the Crimson Moon Resort was absolutely spectacular. No enchantment was needed. It was easily one of the most beautiful places Ellie had ever laid eyes on.

Blending seamlessly with the wildness in which it was set, Crimson Moon was the perfect combination of rustic and modern, contemporary and traditional, magical and earthly. Her eyes bounced from one magnificent sight to another, finally landing on the miraculous wall of water that greeted every guest with an inviting welcome to what she already knew was a piece of Heaven on earth.

Multiple levels of waterfalls cascaded down the biggest freestanding palisade Ellie had ever seen. Its beauty was only magnified by the vines of little blue morning glories, white climbing hydrangea, and pale lavender wisteria lovingly weaving their way around the crags and crevices. It quite literally took Ellie's breath away and aroused the part of her magic that had been given to the MacLeish Witches by the Celtic Goddess of Water, Lady of the Lake, Viviane.

Reading her mind, Angelica whispered, “Give it a go, Kiddo. Use the waters. Feel every molecule. Let its power and strength join with yours. That’s what the Goddess wants for all of us. To commune with the elements. That’s what makes us Earth Witches such cool chicks. Wearepart of the Earth.”

“I never thought of it that way.”

"Yeah," Angelica snickered. "Most people don't. That's the old way of thinkin'. Most call it New Age or Hippy talk. I call it the truth. I mean, can't you feel it?"

“I can,” Ellie breathed, her focus on a single blue flower riding the waves across the rocks at the bottom of the waterfalls. Never moving her hand from her side, just bending her fingers upward, she watched in wonder and awe as the blossom lifted from the stream and spun in the air, its petals dancing on the breeze.

"See there," Ang beamed. "It's just like Celia's been tellin' you. You are so powerful, with such control for one who has not yet gone through her Awakening." Hugging her close before dropping her hand and taking a step forward, the more experienced Witch added, "Now, let's get you inside and checked in. Then we can see what mischief awaits."
