Goddamn Logan. I seriously regretted the day I met him.

With a groan, I tucked the letter away in a drawer. I just couldn’t bring myself to deal with it right now or even care. Maybe I was naive, but I wasn’t afraid of Logan’s temper tantrum. These words meant nothing to me. I’d already numbed myself to his level of vitriol. He wasn’t going to be getting one more second of my attention.

Finn was a decent running partner. This was our second time out together, and we’d worked into a steady rhythm. He had to slow his long strides way down for my much shorter ones, but he didn’t complain.

“You know I’m a TSC fan.” Finn would have been a better running partner if he could have at least pretended to be out of breath.

“Your point?”

“My point is I heard Ronan got to go to your rehearsal yesterday and I’m offended I wasn’t asked along. Surely you had a need for a second guard.”

I snorted and almost tripped over my sneakers. “We didn’t even need the one we had. Ronan followed me to the bathroom, that’s how boring it was.”

“That’s his job, you know.” He swatted my shoulder like we were old pals. “I really fuckin’ doubt Ro was bored either way.”

“I meant boring as in there wasn’t any kind of danger. Our music is never boring. Although…” I wiped the back of my hand over my sweaty forehead, “he spent a lot of time on his phone.”

Finn shrugged. “He’s busy. His bodyguard contracts aren’t usually as open-ended as this one and he has other responsibilities he has to keep up with.”

Since he brought up the subject, I decided to take the opportunity to dig. “Who’s Lizzy?”

It was Finn’s turn to be taken off guard. His steps stuttered and his face quickly went blank. “What?”

“Lizzy. Who is she? Ronan was talking to her.”

“Did you ask him?”

I didn’t like the caginess in his voice. It made me suspicious. “What do you think?”

He chuckled. “I think if Ronan wanted you to know, he would have told you. It’s better to keep our lives separate from our jobs.” He reached over and tugged my ponytail. “On the other hand, I have no boundaries. You can ask me anything and I’ll tell you.”

“How old are you?”

“Thirty-four. Next question.”

“Do you have a girlfriend?”

“Several. My love knows no bounds. You?”

I turned my head, arching a brow at his question. “You’re asking if I have a girlfriend?”

His eyes rounded, and he held his hands up to show his innocence. “Do you have girlfriends? Or only the throuple thing?”

“Oh, Finn. Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall of my bedroom.”

He winked and somehow made it charming instead of skeevy. “As enticing as that invitation is, I’ll have to decline this time. I like your music too much. I don’t want to get hard every time I listen. That could be embarrassing.”

Breathless giggles burst out of me. “How are you friends with Ronan? You’re complete opposites.”

“Did you just change the fucking subject, Ms. Adler?”

“I did. That one was getting old.” My sex life and sexuality were only the business of people who stood a chance of getting in my pants. As hot as Finn was, there was no spark, so no chance. He really had no reason to know who I preferred to have between my thighs and in my sheets since he’d never be there.

“Just as well. Ronan wouldn’t appreciate that line of questioning.”

My head jerked. “Why would he care?”

Finn’s mouth curved into a Cheshire cat grin. “You asked why Ronan and I are friends, didn’t you? First, we’re not so different. He’s more reserved, but I think we’re alike. We met in the army and went through training for the Rangers together and took part in missions in Africa. We’ve seen some major shite—things that turn strangers into brothers. That’s how I know he’s one of the good ones.”
