She came with a cry, and I followed her with a groan that shook the walls. It was with relief and desire and the pleasure of knowing the woman in my arms was finally mine.
She collapsed on me, breathless and smiling. “You did last longer.”
I laughed against her shoulder, nipping her smooth skin. “Am I ever going to live that down?”
“Aw, Alex.” She tugged my beard, bringing me face to face with her. “You were perfect and tender. I’ve never forgotten a single moment.”
“Me neither.” I nipped her bottom lip. “This day is probably going to rank up there with it because it’s the day I knew without a doubt my favorite monster was really mine.”
Her arms draped around my neck. “I’ve been yours forever. Don’t ever forget that, even when I beat you at skateboarding.”
I grinned, pondering how I’d ever lived without Yael. “Nope. I’ll never forget.”
How could I ever forget the girl who taught me what true beauty was and to always look up at the night sky?
Simple.
I couldn’t.
