To call this a win
But I got silver in my hair now, girl
My time is getting shorter, and I’m diving in
Let’s stay in today
Can’t get enough of you in my white sheets
Sun shinin’ like stripes on your skin
You’re taking me there with the sweetest ease
Our everlasting turned never lasting
But our never again is turnin’ out to be never sweeter
’Cause waking up with you is too right to deny
Breathing your scent on my pillow is a pleasure
Yeah, we’re rockin’ against the nos and nevers
’Cause you’re my treat girl, you’re my treasure
We gotta go north now, girl
The compass is pointing us that way
We’ll walk the road together this time
Until we find the place we’re always gonna lay
Second chances like this only come around once
There’s sugar on your lips and hearts in your eyes
You’re looking like forever to me
From the ashes of never agains, you and I are gonna rise
Oh.
Oh…well…damn.
If I hadn’t loved this man before he sang me my morning song, I would have fallen then. As it was, I fell deeper than I ever had. Was it crazy fast? It might seem that way to those on the outside, but I didn’t think so. We’d been moving in this direction ever since we split apart. It wasn’t fate that brought Jude on my tour, but a choice, just like a choice brought me and my basketball to his front door when we got back.
Jude gave me an easy smile from his rightful place on stage. And when he saw he had my full attention, using his fingers, he made a heart on his guitar.
Jin knocked my shoulder with his. “Oooh, shit. A finger heart? That’s the big guns.”
I snorted and smiled back at Jude. “Shut up, Jinny.”
He curled his arm around my shoulders. “Happy for you, Tali-bear.”
After Jude’s set,I met him backstage. Instead of fucking in a dirty bathroom, we held each other in a quiet corner. His arms circled my waist, mine went around his neck. My toes barely touched the ground, but he had me.
“You wrote me a morning song,” I whispered in awe.
