After Berlin,we moved onto Munich, where we stayed for three nights, giving all of us a much needed breather. The band dispersed, doing their own thing with their wives, and Tali disappeared too. I hung out with Hector, hitting the gym hard and walking through the city.

I’d been to most of the cities we were stopping at on this tour, but my free time had been spent at clubs getting wasted or in my hotel room, writhing on sweaty sheets, coming down off a high. My memory of those days was vague and blurry, for which I was thankful. I’d been a fucking mess, and so had the people around me. Not having those memories crystal clear in my head was a relief.

Jin:Long time. What’s up, man?

Me:Still in Germany, but we’re headed to Czech Republic tomorrow.

Jin:Gonna get Tali to be your tour guide?

Me:You’re so fucking nosy these days. You used to avoid saying her name to me like it’d conjure her up. Now you can’t stop asking about her.

Jin:I’m reading the room, man. Clearly you want to talk about her.

Me:What gave you that idea? Me saying we’re going to Czech Republic tomorrow? Is there a code I’m not aware of?

Jin:Nah. But on a normal day, you want to talk to me about Tali. Nothing about your situation is normal right now. I have a feeling you have a lot to say.

Me:Actually, I don’t. I haven’t even seen the back of her head in a few days.

Jin:What’d you do?

Me:I texted myself with her phone so I’d have her number without her permission. She got pissed.

Jin:You should see the wtf face I’m making right now. Dude, what the fuck?

Me:It was a stupid, impulsive decision. But she added me as a contact under ‘Hazel Eyes,’ so she can’t still be pissed…right?

Jin:If you could see me, you’d see my wtf face and me shrugging.

Me:You know, they have emojis that show that exact expression.

Jin:Yeah, but I’m old school.

Me:I’m assuming this means she hasn’t told you jack.

Jin:Insert shoulder shrugging emoji here.

Me:How does Erin stay married to you?

Jin:I’m amazing, that’s how. I’m like all in tune to her needs and shit. Just as I am yours. You needed to talk, so I’m here to listen, baby.

Me:Or taunt me into insanity.

Jin:Or that. But for real, for real, I happen to know Tali’s whereabouts, and she is not avoiding you purposefully. Or at least, not entirely. She’s busy, but that’s all I’m saying. Now, back to you. Have you been writing?

Me:Nah, thoughts are too jumbled.

Jin:Playing?

Me:Not a lot. My spare time is limited, and when I do have time, I spend it trapped on a bus with five other people. I don’t wanna bug them with my music.

Jin:Go play it on a mountain or something. Music is your stress reliever, and I have a feeling you’re stressed.

Me:I’m feeling like I’m getting the Dr. Park treatment.

Jin:This is your friend, who also happens to be a psychologist, and frankly, knows way too much about your mental health. So, yeah, I worry. And yeah, I’m probably up in your business more than necessary. But it’s only as a friend. Oh, and as a fan who really fucking wants you to put out a solo album.
