“What do you want us to do, boss?”

I watched as he headed to the bar and poured himself a stiff drink of rum. With a quick flick of the wrist, he downed the amber liquid and tapped his finger while his gaze shifted back and forth. Power and anger poured off him, and I found my body jolting alive.

“Find out who their employers are and start sending bits and pieces of them back with a message that Sienna is not who they should be looking for, it’s Rosa Coppola. I’ll email you the proof.”

“What is—” He stopped himself and went quiet, realizing he was questioning Elio.

“Be sure to include one of my cards, so they know exactly who they’re dealing with.”

“Yes, boss.”

“I want to hear their screams from here.”

“Understood.”

“One more thing. If anyone else comes, you deal with them the same way. I’m the Don now, and I’m setting the precedent here and now that I won’t tolerate anyone coming for my fiancée.”

I found myself grinning at Elio. The dark corners of his mind were both sexy and empowering.

He tossed his phone on the bar and leaned into his hands as they pressed against the smooth granite top. He must have felt my presence, so he turned to look right at me. He lifted an eyebrow as he caught my expression.

“What?”

“Just you,” I shrugged, my smile spread wide across my lips, “and all this.” I waved my hand in front of him. “Elio Capri, the big bad wolf, finally showed me some teeth today.”

“Teeth, huh?” He stood, and his eyes darkened, making me feel the heat between my legs. “Why don’t you come over here and let me show you what these teeth can do.”

I bit down on my lip, gave him a ‘come get me’ sexy look, and ran out of the room.

“You think you can run from me,bella?” I chuckled. I needed her body as a distraction from everything that was going on. I moved swiftly through the rooms as I removed my suit jacket and unbuttoned my shirt. “You know wolves are excellent hunters.”

Suddenly, a lace bra fell from above and landed on my shoulder.

“Mm, I don’t know, Elio.” She leaned over the railing. “You’re still down there, and I’m all the way up here.”

Reaching up, I hoisted my body over the rail and dropped to the landing. She laughed from one flight above me.

“Is this how you hunt your prey?” She dragged the zipper of her dress back up a bit to stop between her bare breasts.

I pressed hard against the floor and leapt forward to land a stair below her. As I went to scoop her up, she ducked under my arm and raced back down the stairs and through a door that led to the basement.

With a smirk, I followed her, knowing she’d made her first mistake. She’d never been down there before and would never find the light.

“Where the hell am I?” she huffed to herself as I came up behind her. Her hands were out, feeling her way around, and I followed close behind her. “I know you’re here.” She half-laughed. “I can feel you.”

“I assure you I am,” I teased, and she whirled around and tried to find me.

“This isn’t fair. I don’t know where the light switch is.”

“You want to talk about what’s fair?” I slid my hands around her waist, making her jump. I pursed my lips and blew my cool breath over her shoulder then nipped at her skin as she shivered. “You’re always wearing all these sexy dresses,” my hand ran up her belly and then tugged down the zipper to pull the fabric away from her body, “making me want you every minute of every day.”

“You don’t think I feel the same way about your suits?” She ground her lacy thong into my painful erection. “Or the way people are scared of you?” She arched her back as I slid between her legs, nearly moaning at her heat.

“You like people being scared of me?”

“Mmhmm.” Her head dropped back against my chest. “It makes me feel safe. Like no one can get through you.”

I closed my eyes and relished that I could still make her feel safe. I promised when she returned that I would do everything in my power to make things right. This was progress.
