“Oh, is that so?” A twinkle in his eye told me that I should run very fast, but I wasn’t about to leave our daughter with her muddy brother.

“Don’t,” I laughed when he tried to grab me, “you dare.”

“Elio Capri!” Andrea came to my rescue, and I beamed with pride at my little family as she approached. I knew she doted on being a nonna. “Wyatt’s on his way, and you two boys look like you were just hunting for frogs.”

Like the typical mama’s boy he was, Elio played up to her. “Mama, Filippo was just asking if you’d give him a bath.” He was shameless.

“Anything for my little guy.” Her tone rose, and she smiled at her grandson. Then Piero appeared and scooped up Marabella, and just like that, our children were gone, and I was left with a playful Elio.

“What?” He smiled wide. “It’s not my fault they love to be needed.”

“What am I going to do with you?”

“Well,” he reached over his head and pulled off his shirt, and I felt my pulse quicken as I gawked at my husband’s fighter physique, “I have a few ideas.”

“No way.” I backed up, but he closed the distance between us, stalking me like a hungry lion. My back hit a tree, and he instantly curled around my body, hooking his arm at my waist.

“I want more babies.” He kissed my neck.

I laughed. “I gave you one of each. That should keep you busy for a while.”

“But I enjoy the art of making babies.” He didn’t miss a beat as pinned me against the tree.

“I did not take a nine-hour flight to find my best friend making out under a damn tree,” Wyatt called from the driveway. “Get up here and show me how much you missed me.”

“I want to say I missed you…” Elio dripped with sarcasm.

“Don’t you be muttering hateful things, Elio. I know you missed me the most,” Wyatt called.

I kissed Elio quickly, chuckling under my breath as I pulled him up toward the driveway.

“Missed?” Elio grunted.

“Plan your lovin’ around my visits.” Wyatt laughed as he took a cocktail from a staff member then hastily put it on the roof of the car as I approached at a trot and leapt into his arms.

“I thought you were never coming back!” I’d missed him so much over the past sixteen months. He’d landed a job atThe New York Timeswith the help of Elio, and though he’d still be able to live here for most of the year, he was required to train in the States first.

“I have someone I want you to meet.” He stepped back and reached out an arm, then gave a warm smile as he drew his friend in close. He was quite a good-looking man, dressed in a nice suit…wait. I studied him a moment and pressed my lips together in fear I’d blurt out my feelings. Sweet Lord, he was Vinni. Wyatt had found an American Vinni. I pulled myself together then, as I noticed the poor fellow looked extremely uneasy. “Scott Hanes, please meet my female other half.” Wyatt chuckled as he spoke in English.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Sienna. I’ve heard so much, but you know now I’m here, it’s a little—”

“Terrifying?” I finished for him. “I understand, I really do, but I promise we’re good people.”

“You should see her with a blade.” Wyatt smirked.

“That helps. Thanks, babe,” he said in his American accent.

“Come,” I waved for us to go inside, “I want to hear all about your new job, your new friend, and New York, and your sister, and, well, everything.” I laughed and led the way but not before hooking my best friend’s arm and giving him a huge, knowing grin.

“I know,” he whispered in Italian, “I have a type.”

“Yup, Vinni.” I laughed.

Wyatt grinned back and jumped immediately into a conversation as Scott looked over at us. “I have something really big to share with you later when we have a moment.”

“Oh? Sounds very intriguing.” I smiled at him. We both were delighted to be back together.

After I gave Scott a mini tour of the house and they dropped their bags in their room, Elio returned wearing a fresh shirt with the twins. They ran in clean and freshly dressed. I knew it would only last for about five minutes, but at least their first impression would be good.
