I glanced at the bed, memories of what we did there last night cropping up and causing wetness to pool between my legs. My body was more than ready for another round between the sheets, and my brain was on board with that plan now too.

God, I was so tired of trying to resist him, but as Connor moved to the bed and practically collapsed onto it, I knew that this wasn’t the time to make a move. His eyelids were already heavy, and I suspected that he’d fall asleep immediately if he wasn’t still shivering from the cold.

He pulled the blanket over himself, but it wasn’t enough to warm him up, so I did the only thing I could think of to help chase away the chill. Kicking off my shoes, I crawled into the bed beside him. Connor lifted the blanket, allowing me to get close, and wrapped his arms around my body. His skin was shockingly cold, and I rubbed my hands up and down his arms, tucking my head into the crook of his neck while our legs intertwined.

“You shouldn’t have stayed out there so long,” I chastised.

“I h-h-had to,” he replied, his teeth chattering.

“No, you really didn’t,” I said, moving even closer and feeling protective of him. “What am I supposed to do if you get sick from being out in the cold like that? Or hurt yourself? Don’t put me in that position.”

“I won’t. I promise.”

His shaking gradually subsided, and I felt him relax. It wasn’t long before his breathing evened out, and I lifted my head to see that he’d fallen asleep. I took a moment to study his face, completely relaxed and so handsome that I couldn’t resist trailing a finger along his stubbled jaw. He didn’t stir, and I pressed my lips to his forehead, a warm affection emotion for him blooming inside of my heart.

“Merry Christmas, Connor,” I said softly before settling back down on the mattress and closing my eyes.

Sleep claimed me a few minutes later, and I drifted off to sleep with a content smile on my face.
