Her nose wrinkled. She was used to Hudson calling her all manner of things—little one, pretty girl, kitten, Posey, Pocketful—but Twinkle was a new one.

“That’s your elf name,” he said, stepping out of the car and then walking around to open her door and offer her a hand. “I thought you’d like it better than Snowflake or Tinsel.”

Her brows went up because heck yeah she did.

“Fine.”

She gave him her hand and stepped out of the car, and then he wrapped his meaty arm around her shoulders.

“I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

“That makes one of us,” she muttered and then head butted him when he responded, “That’s twenty more.”

So maybe Hudson was right. Maybe she would have a good time. However this shook out, it couldn’t possibly be worse than going to her parents’ godforsaken party.
