“I’m delighted to hear it. If you wanted a break or if you’d rather be my full-time babygirl, I’d love that too. But I also think you’ll be an outstanding attorney and a credit to the profession. My belief in the system? It’s good people like you who give that to me. And if you’d like to, I’d love to have you work at my firm when you’re done. If that would be uncomfortable for you of course you should work for someone else or set up your own shop. You can change your mind anytime. But I’d kick myself if I never asked because you’re going to be brilliant.”
A couple of tears rolled down her cheeks and he put the box on the table and then leaned in to kiss them away. He took her hands in his, leaned his forehead into hers and murmured, “So what do you say, Saoirse? Will you be mine? My wife, my princess, my world?”
She nodded against him and then pressed her lips to his. “Yes, Arthur. Yes, Daddy. I want to be yours forever and ever. You just made me the happiest girl in the whole world.”
“And you haven’t even had dessert yet,” he teased. “You make me the happiest man alive every day, pretty girl. I love you so much and I adore you. Thank you for choosing me today and every day.”
