He turns around and smiles. “You didn’t have to change, I thought you looked hot. Like a young co-ed.”

“Of course, you did.” I roll my eyes at the thought that men loved when a woman looks like borderline jailbait.

He sits on the couch and I sit next to him when he pulls me into his lap. “You don’t really hate me, do you?”

“I don’t hate you, but you’re pretty infuriating,” I tell him.

“You’re no walk in the park either, sunshine.”

“So…frenemies with benefits?” I let the words come out slowly, allowing myself to mull over each word. “We can’t fuck at the office.”

He snorts as a mischievous grin finds his face. “Yeah, we’ll see.”

“Auntie Lo.”

I open one eye to find my niece standing in front of me, her head cocked to one side so she can stare at me. Her hair is perfectly brushed and pulled into a high ponytail and I can’t help the smile pulling at my lips at her ability to groom herself.

“What time is it?” My voice is still thick with sleep, so I clear my throat as she picks up my phone from the nightstand.

“Six three six.” She points at each number.

I groan at the ungodly hour at which she’s woken me up. “Go back to bed, munchkin.”

She furrows her brow and I notice her peeking over my shoulder. “Auntie Lo,” she whispers before she points behind me, “there’s a boy in your bed.” I don’t mistake the chuckle behind me alerting me that said boy is awake. “Who is that?”

“Umm,”Fuck.“a friend,” I tell her.

“Did you guys have a sleepover?” Her wide eyes and large smile showcase her innocence.

“Something like that.”

“No fun,” she pouts. “I fell asleep. What did you guys do?”

Another chuckle fills the air and I jam my heel into his shin. He hisses and circles an arm around my middle which thankfully is covered by my blanket.

I pull away from his grasp and sit up, grateful that I’d had the foresight to put on pants after Vincent had proceeded to make me come with his mouthtwice.

“Emma, go back to bed,” I tell her as I get up and guide her towards the open door and gently push her through it.

“Wait! Can I meet him?” She looks up at me, her green eyes large and questioning before she lets her bottom lip jut out in that way that always makes me give in to whatever she wants.

“He’s sleeping.”

“Is not, look!” She points behind me, and reluctantly I turn around to see him sitting up in bed with a smile playing on his lips. He waves and she runs past me and stands next to his side of the bed.

“Hi, Emma, I’ve heard a lot about you.” He smiles that crooked smile and my niece beams under his charm just like every other female in the world.

“Really!? Who are you? Auntie Lo never has boys over for sleepovers.” She looks at me, and I narrow my gaze at her. She’s five and doesn’t quite understand that my look means to ‘stop talking,’ so she shrugs and turns back to Vince.

His eyes flit to mine in response to her statement and he quirks his brow in question. “Is that so?”

“Nope, you wanna stay for breakfast?” She bounces on the balls of her feet like she does when she’s excited.

“No no no angel, he’s busy!” I tell her quickly and her eyes dart to his.
