Pulse ramping up so that it was hard to speak, Rylee fought down the terror that claimed her for seconds until she was able to calm herself by remembering his FBI medical records. She knew his blood pressure had peaked and his blood work had shown he was low on certain vitamins but other than a poor run-down condition, his body was healthy, just ignored for too long.

His hand pulling her in the direction of an ice cream stand, brought her back from her memories. “What’s your favorite?” He grinned into her face and waited.

As she read the list of flavors on the wall, she noticed one of Hakim’s men standing behind others reading the same menu. He didn’t have his arms crossed today, but he wore the same sneer.

Shit!

Checking all around, Rylee saw one of the buses heading toward the port. “There’s a bus going back to the ship, Jake. Let’s get free ice cream on board.” Grabbing Jake’s hand, she sprinted for the full vehicle and prayed there’d be room and the driver would see her waving.

He did and hopped down to meet them. “Good for you, miss. We have two seats left. Come along now.” He opened the small door and let them in, stopping the disgruntled man who tried to demand entry too. “Sorry, sir. Regulations say we’re only allowed to carry so many, and this bus is full. Another will be here in ten minutes.”

As they drove away, Rylee watched the oversized bastard slam his hand into a tree and then wince from the pain. She grinned. Not the smartest prick in the pool.

But then he caught her eye, and her grin disappeared.

He pointed at her and then at himself.

Oh, shit!
