Chapter Thirty-four

Tonight, they had a full moon and it seemed such a shame to waste it. Sam drove the bike to a hill overlooking the bay and pulled to a stop. Before they’d left the others, he’d grabbed a couple bottles of cold beer and passed one over to her now.

He watched as she walked closer to the cliff and saw her illuminated by the huge ball of yellowy-white magic behind her. If he could store this precious moment in his heart forever, he would. Thinking fast, he slipped his phone from his pocket and quickly snapped a shot and then looked to see what showed up.

There in his screen stood a tall woman with shiny silver hair gently wafting around her shoulders. Her leather pants fit her slim body like a glove as did her light-weight black jacket that gleamed from good leather. A white T-shirt set off the breasts he ached to touch. If he could lay her down on the grass and have his way with her, he’d know he’d died and gone to heaven.

She turned and grinned. “I can feel your thoughts from here. You have a dirty mind.”

He laughed. “It’s not dirty if a guy has… has affections for the woman he’s imagining doing dirty things to.”

She laughed as he’d hoped she would. “You’re incorrigible, boy-o. I’m not going to indulge you and your fantasies.”

He sauntered over to where she stood. Taking the beer bottle out of her hands and placing it on a rock beside his, he slowly put his arms around her waist and waited to see if she would be a participant in his plans.

“Oh, please, indulge me. I’ve wondered how your lips would taste under the light of the moon, and I intend to find out.” He lowered his mouth to hers slowly, not wanting to take that which she didn’t wish to give over willingly. He swelled when she offered no resistance, instead, becoming an accomplice.

Exploring her lips, he lost track of time. She liked the interplay of their tongues, spent long seconds licking his and letting him do the same. He became lost in her taste and the sensations she created.

At first, it was a gentle expression of attraction between two adults who were both obviously curious. But that soon built into more. His body coiled with an aching need to know hers, be inside her, and love her. His message of gentleness didn’t change, but his needs did, and the budding desire became a hungry twisting demand to make her want him too.

Invested in him as he was with her, he noted that she ignored the chances he gave her to step back. And that added fuel to the intenseness. Throaty moans suddenly rang in the still of the night as she let him know she liked how he made her feel. That’s when he promised every God in the universe he’d be their boy if she just didn’t end the beautiful start of lovemaking before it went further.

She didn’t.

In fact, she pushed herself into him, grinding her chest into his, her hips slipping into perfect position to give him the delightful knowledge of her willingness.

Ravenous and rigid, he forced himself to take things one move at a time, not to rush her or go further than her inclinations allowed. Taut, throbbing, he gently pushed her jacket aside and moved his hands to her breasts, a frontal attack to let her know his intentions and give her a chance to stop him

Only she didn’t. While licking his neck and around his ears, she purred her contentment. Then she drove an electric shock through his system with her whispered words, “You really think this is the best place for this to happen, boy-o?”

He held her away from him and smiled into her shining, sultry eyes. “It’s perfect. What do you think?”

“What more could a girl want? An ocean lit by moonlight, soft breezes, and we even have a blanket in the saddlebag on the back of the bike.”

“Then don’t go away. I’ll be right back.” Feeling like a lusting teenager, Sam fetched the blanket and moved them behind some bushes that would shield them from any passing motorist. He spread it out and then waited for her to join him there. Lowering next to him, she wrapped her arms around her knees and sat silent, sipping her beer while surveying the gorgeous view.

“Tell me more about Sam Reagan. What matters to you?”

Realizing that not all foreplay involved touching, he settled beside her and answered, “Let me think. I have only one close family member living so I guess you would say my sister and her children hold the position of importance at the top of the Reagan tree. Then comes the people who I work with, especially the ones here in Rhodes, who I tend to depend on more than any others.” He glanced at her and sipped at his bottle. “What about you?”

“Oh, I’m fortunate to have a large family of two sisters and three brothers. I’m the eldest. The first few years of my life were lived in Canada where I was born.”

Interested, Sam questioned, “Whereaboutsin Canada?”

“On the east coast, St. John’s, Newfoundland. My mother was Greek and so I spent every summer here in Rhodes with my grandmother until I went to college and then on to training at Quantico. My mother passed a few years ago, and I swear that’s one of the reasons for Yaya’s quick downhill slide. She loved my mother fiercely.”

“As she did you.”

Sophia turned his way and nodded. “You could say that. We were always close, but when Mom died, Yaya became more… ahh, I guessneedy’sthe word. I hated not being able to see her more than a few times a year. She would have cometo Washington if she could have traveled, but the last year was difficult for her… a woman who’d always been so active. It was she who taught me to ride.”

“I figured as much. I saw her photos in the living room of you and her on your bikes, riding together. And the prizes you both won. She was a beautiful woman.”

“Yes. She lived a very full life until the sickness struck. The city still bemoans her loss because of the activities she invested so much of her time and energy in… homelessness, hunger, the church.”

Sensing her sadness, Sam changed the subject. “What about your father and the rest of your family?”

This brought an instant smile. “I guess you could say he’s the reason I’m an agent. He’s a decorated cop and did a lot of good during his time on the force. But when Mom passed, he decided to move back home to St. John’s where most of my brothers and sisters live, and he spends his days on his boat fishing.”
