“I kind of like you like this,” he teased. “Spread out for me and shaking from the orgasms I gave you. Compliant and sweet.”

Even though my mind wanted to fight him on his cocky words, I didn’t have the energy to. I just flipped him off before letting my arm flop back down against the mattress.

With a self-satisfied grin on his face, he grabbed my ankles. He pushed forward and spread me wide for him, groaning as he looked down at my swollen cunt. His eyes stayed on me as he lined himself up and pushed in slow enough that a shiver ran through me. Each inch stretched me out for him, and I couldn’t help but whimper at how fucking sensitive he’d made me. My body was ready for more and here he was dragging it out.

Even as he bottomed out, he pulled back just as slow to do it all over again. Yet every single inch he gave me or took away had my body tensing more. My breathing was rapid, and I was helpless to escape the onslaught of pleasure that built stronger than any he’d given me yet.

I pleaded with him. Begged for more, harder, faster, but he refused. Instead he continued at the same ridiculous pace because he could fucking tell it was driving me insane. I was babbling and whimpering to the man who was lost in his own piece of heaven. He’d rendered me helpless to do anything but receive the pleasure he was giving me.

This time when I came, I screamed against the borderline painful release. My body writhed as I rode out the forceful ripples of pleasure, my pussy ruthlessly clenching around him until he came too, slamming in one last time and filling me with his cum.

It took us a moment to recover and pull ourselves into the shower. We were under the spray, enjoying a moment of calm, when the door slammed open.

“Quit fucking and pack, I hear we have a solid team,” Callum cheered. He was so excited he didn’t even bother to join us before he walked out and started calling for Nyx. Excitement wiped away the dazed exhaustion that clung to me. This was really happening; we were taking a real step toward ending this.

About damn time.

Philadelphia was chaotic. After being in a small town like Dixon, it was definitely a culture shock. The streets were busy, sidewalks bustling with people, and every business was packed.

“There’s our shuttle,” I said excitedly, rushing ahead of the guys to reach the hotel shuttle. We were staying at a brand-new hotel they’d just built not far from our destination. Emerald Rose Resort and Hotel was the only one with any availability this last minute and we weren’t willing to wait any longer. The place seemed nice enough with its modern look, a mix of emerald greens and blacks that gave faux class to the establishment. They even boasted a spa and room service.

“When do we meet our contact?” Nyx asked, blinking against the bright afternoon sun as he hoisted his duffel bag over his shoulder.

“Five. At a new restaurant on Broad Street, which is the same street as the archives. He was a bit odd about it, though,” Callum admitted. His eyebrows scrunched with worry as he stared off toward the city surrounding us.

“How so?” I asked as I urged them to walk to the shuttle. There was a large green rose painted on the side so at least among all the random shuttles we knew we had the right one. And right now, the driver standing outside of it was starting to look impatient.

Callum didn’t answer right away as he led us to the waiting vehicle. We also didn’t bother to push him. The last thing we needed was for some humans to overhear us and think we’re crazy or start something.

After we loaded up our bags and climbed in the back, he finally spoke, the driver’s rock music loud enough to drown us out.

“He said that we’d enjoy this side of town more.”

Leven didn’t look surprised and waved it off. “We’re not in regular towns and territories here. We’re in one of the most historical cities in America, for humans and us. Plus, it’s a big city. Our kind don’t have to hide the same here.”

“They still have to hide, right?” I countered. “They can’t just be walking claws and fangs out in broad daylight.”

“No, but they can blend in with their own establishments, back rooms, hell we ran across a city once where they had a secret entrance to their hidden city. Spelled against humans so they never even realized, and it’s a whole city block where no one had to hide,” he explained.

“That sounds so badass. I need to see it… you know… for science,” Nyx joked. His blue eyes were full of mischief again. Here in Philadelphia we had a few days to pretend the weight of the wolf world wasn’t resting on our shoulders. That my sister wasn’t missing and our pack wasn’t under attack. This was our pocket of escape and I intended to take full advantage of it, in more ways than one. There was still an underlying urgency that would have us giving our research everything we had, but if we didn’t take those moments for ourselves, we’d be useless to save anyone.

With how heavy rush-hour traffic was, we didn’t have as much time as we’d hoped to get ready. I took a quick shower the moment we reached our suite. We were all ready and in an Uber just thirty minutes before we needed to meet the guy.

I didn’t need to worry apparently. The Uber driver was an expert with Philly traffic, weaving in and out of lanes, and managed to get through the drive in a mere fifteen minutes.

The restaurant was a bar and grill, the neon signs in the window and the old brick facade outside giving it a dive bar feel, not the new establishment I expected. It was fairly empty inside despite being dinner time. The old wooden furniture was occupied by a few random people. All of which looked our way as we walked inside. A hot feeling swept through me as my anxiety spiked and I turned frantic eyes on my mates. I was a predator by nature and didn’t spook easily, yet in that moment I felt like I was suddenly the prey.

“Who is it? What are we looking for?” I hissed at the guys in a tone that conveyed how fucking freaked out I was. Even Leven had puffed out his chest and casually stepped in front of me and Nyx.

“I’m supposed to ask for a ‘chef’s special with a twist,’” he said. Callum’s voice was still strong, and he was putting on the show of being the calm alpha. The clenched jaw and curled fists easily gave him away though.

We followed Callum up to the bar, skipping the hostess stand altogether. Some of the energy in the room seemed to slip away as we moved farther into the room, and I felt like I could breathe again. Whatever wards they used on this place were strong. A human wouldn’t have stood a chance against that negative energy.

“Ah, welcome, my friends,” the bartender called. He had a slight lilting accent. He gestured wide with his hands. Between the suit vest and slacks and gelled-back hair, I’d say he was likely the owner. There was a supernatural aura about him, though I couldn’t pinpoint what he was. The lack of scent was confusing, but it was likely something he used to keep himself safe. I was more than a little intrigued. “What can I get you?”
