By the time they were both clean and rinsed, I wasn’t sure if I’d have hot water. But even if mine was ice cold I’d gladly take it. They needed that, and honestly, so did I. Just watching them had calmed my alpha intensity a few degrees.

While they dried off, I stripped out of my own dirty clothes, laughing when they both openly stared at my body.

“You guys better quit that if you don’t want to do something about it,” I warned them as I stepped inside the stall and cranked up the heat a bit now that it’d cooled off. “Man, I really miss my playroom. The moment we have a home base, that’s top of the list.”

“I hope you tell the pack that’s what’s priority.” Vanya joked. “Food, shelter, kink room. That definitely makes sense.” I grinned at her, both of us knowing damn well it was a necessity. I’d barely gotten time to get her used to my toys before they were all gone.

They both slipped out after pulling on clean clothes. Now that I was alone, I simply stood under the spray, letting it wash away the dirt and the tension.Fuck… I don’t think a shower has ever felt this good.

When the water started to cool, I forced myself to lather up my body and wash my hair. It was ice cold by the time I rinsed it out and I quickly wrapped a towel around my waist.

With a clean body and clothes, I felt like a whole new alpha. It’d be even better if I had a hot meal that wasn’t takeout, but I’d take my wins where I could find them right now.

Holt and Vanya were snuggled in bed when I came back in, watching videos on their phones and laughing.

“Do you guys want to join us for the meeting?” I asked.

“Of course,” Vanya said as she tossed her phone aside and hopped out of bed. “The others should be done by now since you showered forever.”

“Watch it, little wolf,” I growled playfully. She smirked as she walked past.

Leven, Torryn, and Nyx were all waiting in the hallways when we walked out. They were all clean and in fresh clothes too.Apparently I did take too long.

“Does anyone know where Antonio and Carlo are?” I asked, glancing down the never-ending hall. Knocking on doors until we found them would be pure hell.

“Right here, boss,” Antonio said from an open door behind them. “We were waiting on you. Carlo is staying behind though, he’s going through a few things for the battle still.”

“Perfect,” I said as I started down the hall, stopping to knock on the door Victor had pointed out.

A human woman stepped out and gave us a bright smile. “You must be the alpha. Welcome to the hive. Right this way.” Part of me wanted to ask questions but I held back. We couldn’t risk pissing off our allies for one woman, not when thousands of supernatural lives were at stake. Leven bumped my arm and I glanced over, the look on his face a mirror of my thoughts.

Clara led us farther into the estate. Every room we passed was decorated impeccably and just as clean and organized as everything we’d seen so far. We passed a formal dining room, a huge kitchen that Emma would kill for, and into a back hall which I assumed was Victor’s wing.

“Wait right here, please,” Clara said before slipping inside of the black door she’d stopped in front of.

“This place is fucking huge,” Nyx hissed. “There’s got to be at least five floors.”

“If not more, they have powerful witches on their side,” Holt pointed out.

“It’s impressive,” I said before the door opened and we cut off the conversation.

“Come in,” she urged, stepping aside and holding the door open so we could go in. It was a large conference room, black chairs around the table. There was a huge screen behind him and on the opposite wall.

Victor sat at one end of the table, fingers tented in front of him and two other vampires on his left. I sat on his right, the rest of my people sitting on my left.

“Welcome, my friends. Your rooms were sufficient, I hope?” Victor finally said.

“More than sufficient,” I promised. “Thank you for the hospitality.” It felt so strange being this formal but if that’s what was required of me, I could play their games.

“This is my head of security, Alexander, and one of our liaisons, Harrison, is on his other side,” Victor introduced.

“My mate, Vanya, my second Leven, my head of security, Antonio; Nyx, Torryn, and Holt are my advisers.”

“You have quite a strange pack,” Victor noted. It wasn’t unkind, more curious than anything. “It seems that the Grave Alpha is shaking up a lot of our traditions.”

“That he is, but we are finding some good in all the destruction he’s caused, like our kind working together,” I said evenly.

“How did you gather witches to your pack, if you don’t mind me asking?” Alexander asked. His eyes moved to Holt, and Nyx and Torryn both leaned forward, blocking him from view. The vampires chuckled but one stern look from Victor had Alexander looking away.
