And this was only the beginning, we had the entire future in front of us, and I couldn’t wait to spend every day with them. And, after tonight, I had no doubt that we had a baby coming. Life really was going to be perfect.

Six months later

The pack landswere covered in decorations and fairy lights. Tonight was our first annual mating ceremony, Garren and Holt standing at the front of the meeting grounds. Garren was an expert at these by now and had formed an alliance with Holt to help him keep up. Now we decided we’d do them once a year.

This one was exciting, the night I would get to see my sister bond to her mates. There was no doubt in any of our minds that it would be a success. They were all so strong, a bond already there. We’d quickly become a family, my sister and her mates sharing the lodge with us once we’d renovated it, like everything else here.

Nyx had helped them heal the best he could and even if Meira walked with a limp, she could still shift and walk.

“Come on, Sister. It’s time. Don’t tell me you’re nervous now?” I teased.

She glared at me playfully. “No.” But her fingers toyed with her long red hair, giving her away.

“Shouldn’t you be the nervous one?” she asked pointedly, glancing at my rounded belly. My hands hugged my baby bump and I rolled my eyes.

“I’ve faced worse,” I said.

“So have I,” she reminded me. Even a year later and we were still finding ways to catch up. It felt like we’d lived full lifetimes apart and were suddenly reunited, forced to navigate through being different people and having faced so much.

“There, you’re done,” I said as I brushed highlighter over the tip of her nose and the top of her lip. “You look radiant.”

She turned to the mirror, that was nowonlya mirror, and twirled, letting her lacy dress fan out.

“I feel like a princess,” she laughed.

“A queen,” I corrected, leading her downstairs.

The full moon was shining high in the sky as we walked outside where her mates had been waiting.

Camilla and Malachi were just as changed as Meira was, but strong. They’d adapted to their new life, hers without sight and his without fangs, making do with what they had. I loved how strongly they loved each other, how comfortable they made each other feel.

“There they are,” she whispered, her voice choking as she clung to my arm. I knew the feeling, I’d been through it myself. Finding your mates, even among hellish conditions, was one of those things you could never stop appreciating. It was humbling and beautiful.

I gave her a quick hug before handing her off to her mates. My tears started flowing the moment they stood before Garren and Holt. The Moon Goddess blessed them without hesitation and my cheers were the loudest of the entire pack. Meira deserved this happiness.

What she didn’t know was that her mates had secured a home of their own. It was a beautiful two-story home where they could have their honeymoon and really enjoy their mate bond.

We watched on as Hades and Emma, Waylen and Ava, and many more were blessed with bonds of their own. It seemed it was more common than we’d anticipated. This was the one part of tradition and our history that we would never lose again. The Grave Alpha had tried to change nature and ruin the sanctity of fated mates. But we were reclaiming it, as were the witches in their own covens. We were all still rebuilding, healing, but communication was wide open between all three communities. This was a new world and we were going to ensure that history couldn’t repeat itself.

We would raise our baby in a pack that wasn’t riddled with pain and war, but one full of love and knowledge. This was our future, our forever, and I wouldn’t have wanted it to end any other way.
