“Aye, next time you talk to Jah, tell her to call me.”

“Okay. Um… Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m good. I just need to rap with her about some shit.”

A few seconds passed before Bianca asked, “You want her back, don’t you?” and Elite could hear the smile in her voice.

He chuckled, thankful for the release. “Nah, man. Just tell her to call me, B.”

“Aight, I will.”

After disconnecting the call, Elite smiled. He was only fooling himself, thinking Jacintha wouldn’t have some kind of place in his life. It might not be a romantic bond, but the vows he made to God to be her provider and protector still held true until she found a man to replace him. And while Elite was in no rush to replace her, there was no doubt in his mind that it would happen. Their marriage may have been over, but he was determined to do right by her so God would bless him with his forever bride.

??????

When Elite decided to go to the mall to pick up a birthday present for Nicole, he wasn’t expecting to see the woman from the bowling alley. But there she was—just as beautiful and ethereal looking in her loose-fitting, white shirt and cutup jeans. That glow was still there, too. It looked like she had gold in her t-zone. Elite couldn’t say it was makeup because her face was bare of it. The glow was natural, making her the most beautiful gem he’d ever seen.

“Hi, welcome to Femme Lux. Is there anything I can help you with?” a chipper associate asked.

Elite didn’t even bother to look at her before pointing and saying, “I want her.”

“Excuse me?”

His eyes lowered to the woman. “To help me,” he added quickly. “I want her to help me.”

A knowing smile spread her lips. “Gotcha.” She walked over to the beauty, placing her hand at the small of her back as she whispered something into her ear.

When she was done, the beauty looked back at Elite. Her eyes widened slightly as she smiled before biting down on her bottom lip. She set the shirt she was folding down before slowly and seductively making her way over to him. Elite swallowed hard as his eyes lowered down her frame. Baby was beautiful and thick as fuck. All he saw coming his way was hips and thighs. Thighs Elite imagined having wrapped around his waist as he stroked her pussy.

Doggy style used to be his favorite position because he loved to watch a woman’s ass jiggle against him while he stroked her hard and deep… butthiswoman? This woman was the kind of woman he wanted to make love to missionary—staring at her pretty ass face between nasty ass kisses while she came all over his dick.

“Hi,” she greeted. “I’m Denali.” Elite inhaled a deep whiff of her soft scent, unable to place the notes. Whatever it was, it smelled good as hell. Light and airy.

Placing his hand inside of hers, Elite used it to pull her closer gently. “Elite.”

“Are you looking for anything in particular for your…” Denali tilted his hand, checking for a wedding ring. “Fiancée or girlfriend?”

“My sister actually.”

“Oh.” Her smile widened. “Do you have any pictures of her so I can check out her style?”

Elite was surprised by her question, but he appreciated it. It let him know whatever she helped him find would be something he didn’t have to worry about Nicole liking. When he pulled out his phone, he noticed he had a missed call from an unsaved number.

“Fuck,” he grumbled, realizing he’d forgotten to take his phone off Do Not Disturb.

He did so quickly, hoping Jacintha would call back. With a shake of his head, Elite went to his pictures and found the ones he’d taken of Supreme and Nicole at his housewarming party. After he showed them to Denali, she asked if he knew Nicole’s sizes, then busied herself going from one side of the store to another picking up things.

As much as he wanted to flirt and bask in her beauty, he couldn’t, not while Jacintha was on his mind. Denali ended up putting together three full outfits before checking Elite out. It took about thirty minutes total, and by the time he was heading out, Jacintha was calling again. After making the mental note to return to the mall for Denali, he answered and gave his full focus to Jacintha as he left the store. Answering the call, he went through the usual process to accept it while anxiously waiting to hear her voice and see where her head was at. If she’d been talking to her father consistently, there was no guarantee that she’d be on the same wave she was on when she wrote him a letter.

“Hello?” Jacintha said once the call finally connected.

“Aye, yo’ daddy damn near got his ass cursed the fuck out.”

The sound of her laughter was like a song he hadn’t heard in decades. “Let him tell it, youdidcurse him out.”

“Oh, so he snitched already, huh?”

“Not all the way. He just said he called you trying to talk about me and you wasn’t trying to hear it.”
