“And then?”

“And then I guess nothing.”

“Correction, then you’re mine.”

“I wouldn’t go that far.” She crinkles her forehead.

“You know what I mean.” I slide my hand under her chin and tip her face upward. “Thank you for joining me for dinner.” I catch sight of a photographer out of the corner of my eye. I swear these fucks are shit at being inconspicuous. The asshole’s trying to hide behind a light post that’s about half the width of him.

Either way, this is why we’re here so I decide to try my luck. Leaning in close, I place a chaste kiss to her cheek, not missing the way her breath hitches as I do.

Hmmm. Interesting.

“It was fun,” I whisper in her ear before taking a full step back.

“Not like you gave me much of a choice.” Her cheeks pinken slightly and for a brief moment I wonder if maybe little Ms. Clarke Hamilton isn’t as immune to my charms as she’d have me believe.

“Tomorrow.” I take another step back.

“Can’t wait.” Her voice drips with sarcasm but I catch the playfulness behind it.

“Goodnight, Clarke.”

“Goodnight, Treyton.”

I narrow my gaze.

“Trey,” she corrects, shaking her head, humor lighting up her features.

Without another word, I turn and quickly walk away, Luke fast on my heels.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” My eyes shoot open at the sound of Kat’s voice, but my vision is too blurred to hone in on her face until she’s hovering over top of me.

“What the fuck?” I grumble, my voice thick with sleep.

“What the fuck is right.” She fists the blanket currently draped over my body and rips it away in one swift tug. “Up!” She turns, smacking the bare ass of the woman lying in bed next to me. “I said, up!” She swats her again.

“Shut up,” the woman groans, rolling away from me.

“Up, now.” Kat crosses around to the other side of the bed, practically dragging the woman off the mattress. The poor thing is either too hungover or still too drunk to process what’s happening as Kat shoves her clothes against her chest and leads her to the bathroom door. “Get your ass dressed.” She shoves her inside and pulls the door closed before her angry eyes swing toward me. “How fucking stupid are you?” Her voice ricochets off the hotel room walls around me.

“What the fuck has you in a tizzy this morning?” I push to a sitting position, not bothering to cover my morning wood. It’s nothing she hasn’t seen before. In fact, there’s very little Kat hasn’t seen, or witnessed for that matter. Poor woman has the patience of a saint.

“What’s got me in a tizzy?” Her hands go to her hips.Yep, she’s pissed.“What’s got me in a tizzy?” she repeats, her voice going up an octave. “How about the fact that we made a plan to save your fucking image and here you are the next morning with some tramp in your bed.” She gestures toward the bathroom door right as it swings open. “How fucking stupid are you?” She stomps toward the woman, whose name I can’t even remember if I’m being honest, grabbing her by the forearm. “If you utter so much as a single word about this I’ll sue you so hard that your grandkids will still be paying what we’ll win in court. Am I clear?”

The woman nods, eyes wide, as Kat shoves her into the hallway and slams the door in her face without another word.

“Would you relax?” I stand, slipping on my boxers and pants in one quick motion. “It’s not like I took her back to my house.”

“No, you brought her to a public hotel instead. So much better,” she seethes sarcastically.

“How’d you even know I was here?” I stretch my arms over my head, trying to work out the slight kink in my back.

“Cliff called me.”

“Of fucking course he did.” I shake my head. I swear, every hotel manager in the greater tristate area has Kat on speed dial.

“So, care to explain yourself?” Her hands are back on her hips again.
