“Of course,” she finally repeats her husband’s sentiment. Nodding, the two quickly exit the expansive balcony, disappearing inside the nearly ten thousand square foot home.

“Would you mind explaining to me what that was?” My gaze cuts back to the man in front of me.

Calm Clarke. Calm.

This man may be gorgeous, but it took all of three seconds for him to show me he’s just like every other celebrity in this town. An egotistical, narcissistic, asshat who thinks the world belongs to him.

Typical…

“Whatwhatwas?” He seems amused.

“That.” I gesture toward the house, the sound of the waves crashing behind me in the distance doing nothing to calm my irritation.

“I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking me.” He chuckles…again.

“You can’t just storm in here and chase away potential clients. Despite what you have said, this house isnotyours.” I grind my back molars together.

“I have thirteen million dollars that says otherwise.”

The ground beneath me goes wonky again.

“I’m sorry, did you say…” I trail off, not sure if he’s messing with me or if this lunatic is serious about paying three million over asking on a house he very clearly doesn’t need.

“Thirteen million.” He nods slowly. “Yes, I did.” He crosses his arms in front of his broad chest, a grin once again tugging at his full lips. “Now, do you want to close this deal or should I take my business elsewhere?”

This lights a fire underneath my ass and real estate agent Clarke puts her game face back on.

“Well, first things first, we’ll need to write up a formal offer to the sellers.”

“No, we won’t. I already met with them.”

I blow out a slow breath.

“Of course, you did.” The fake smile on my face is almost painful to hold in place. Leave it to this jack hole to go around me and close a deal withmyseller. If they think they’re going to get out of paying me my commission, they have another thing coming. I’ve been trying to sell this house for a month. I’ll be damned if it was all for nothing.

“The offer has been accepted. And don’t worry, you’ll make every penny of your commission on the thirteen million purchase price.” He smirks as if reading my mind. “With one stipulation, that is.” I feel almost squeamish under his gaze. He’s standing a good five feet from me, but I swear I can feel his warm breath on my neck when a small puff of air passes his lips.

“Stipulation?” I arch an eyebrow.

“I’m prepared to close on this deal immediately. Well, immediately following our date.”

“Date?” The word catches in my throat.

Okay, now I know he’s screwing with me.

He nods slowly.

“You want me… to go on a date… with you?” I stutter out, my mouth momentarily forgetting how to function properly.

Again, he nods.

“Why?” I ask like it’s the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard, because if I’m being honest, it is.

I look around for hidden cameras, sure that I’m being punked.

“Why not?” is his only response.

“You already made the offer on the house. I’m sure I wasn’t part of the deal.” I square my shoulders, refusing to let this very obvious prank knock me off my game.
