“Brandy Hill, the actress, Brandy Hill?” I ask, trying to keep my voice even. Brandy Hill is one of the hottest actresses of the last decade, not to mention probably one of the most beautiful, as well.

“My ex.”

My jaw goes slack.

“Wait… you dated Brandy Hill?”

How did I not know this? Not that I make it a habit of following the weekly headlines of who’s dating who, but I feel like two powerhouses like Brandy and Treyton coming together would be splattered on the front page of every magazine. Certainly, I would have seen it in the line at the grocery store or something, right?

“Why do you sound so shocked? She’s not as perfect as everyone thinks she is.” He misreads my reaction.

“No, it’s not that. I just didn’t think you dated anyone,” I admit.

“Well, I did, once. And it ended up an absolute shit show.”

“How so?”

“You really wanna know?” He hitches a brow.

“Wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t.”

“She cheated on me with her married co-star.”

“Shut up.” I slap my hand down onto the bar a little harder than I intend to, the granite stinging my palm. “Sorry.” I clear my throat.

“It was a long time ago. I had just started playing baseball for the Dodgers. Probably why you never heard of it.”Now it makes more sense. “Most people didn’t. No one really knew me back then so it was more about her and Jameson than anything else.”

“Jameson Fredrick?” I guess, considering he’s the only Jameson I’ve ever heard of.

He nods.

“She cheated on you with Jameson Fredrick?”

Again he nods.

“Wow.” I shake my head, in a bit of disbelief.

“What?” he asks, clearly not understanding my reaction… again.

“Nothing.” I blow out a breath. “I just can’t believe she’d cheat on someone like you, with someone like him.” I curl my nose. “He’s not even cute. Meanwhile you’re over here looking like Zeus carved you from stone himself.”

“Is that your way of saying you think I’m hot, Hamilton?” He lifts his eyebrows up and down suggestively.

“Oh, shut up.” I shove his shoulder.

“Admit it. You think I’m hot.”

I can feel the heat of embarrassment creep up my neck. I don’t know what it is about this man that makes me feel like my age has reversed fifteen years. I’m so unsure of myself. So nervous all the time, much like I was as a teenager.

But that’s not me anymore. Or, at least, it wasn’t me. But something about Treyton Tyler has gotten me shook in a way no one else ever has.

“I don’t have to admit anything. I’m sure you own plenty of mirrors.”

“Doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear you say it.” He pokes my side, making me squeal.

“Would you stop it?” I swat his hand away. “What did I say about touching me?”

“But you can shove me?”
