“Bikinis, if you have one I can borrow. My skin is desperate for some sun.”

“Bikinis it is.” I turn, heading into my bedroom.

Setting my phone down on the charger, I make quick work of finding a couple bathing suits, tossing one out into the living room for Bonnie as I head into the bathroom.

Twenty-five minutes later, I re-emerge feeling like an entirely new person. A small remnant of my headache is still there, but it’s fading more and more with each minute that passes.

Heading back into my bedroom, I find a couple bathing suit wraps, slipping mine on before grabbing my phone off the charger. I know it’s not even close to being fully charged but a little bit is better than nothing.

Powering it back on, within seconds my phone starts pinging. Message after message hits my inbox, one after the other.

“What the…” I press on the message icon when it finally stops after the thirteenth message.

It isn’t until I click on the first one that I realize they are all from last night and all from the same sender; Treyton. Asking me where I am. Telling me he’s on his way. He must have sent them all after my phone died.

Deciding that they’re all irrelevant now, I close out of the thread, even though I’m desperate to message him back.

Taking a deep breath, I let it fill my lungs to the point that my stomach feels tight with pressure, before finally blowing it out.

There’s a lot I need to figure out with Treyton, but all of that can wait.

Today, my focus will be on my best friend…even if it kills me.
