Maybe he’ll spare my life for the sheer humor I’ll bring.

One can hope.

“Devyn.” Azarius’s voice sounds outside the bathroom door. “Are you decent?”

I chuckle, but it quickly escalates to a full-on belly laugh. “Considering you’ve seen every part of me but my asshole, I think it’s a little late for manners.”

I wrench the door open and find him staring down at me, his sapphire eyes raking over every detail of my face, and uneasiness washes over me. I suddenly feel small before him, and the reality of how easy it would be for him to overpower me slaps me in the face.

I can’t say I’d stop him.

Knowing the sheer power he can conjure at any moment—enough to single-handedly take down a Malev—while conducting himself like a gentleman makes me weak in the knees.

It would also make my panties wet if I were wearing any.

“Who says I haven’t seen your asshole already?” He cocks a mischievous brow.

I shrug. “You did ask about my tattoo, so I was assuming you haven’t.”

He gapes, a curious glint in his eye, but I shove past him with a laugh and make my way to the middle of the room.

“What’s your tattoo of?” he asks as he follows behind me.

I don’t actually have one, but stringing him along is fun. Especially because he’s so gullible.

“If you’re lucky, you’ll find out.” I flash him a wink and gesture toward the door. “Don’t we have somewhere to be?”

For a moment, Az is speechless, but he finally regains his bearings and heads for the door, leading us into a long, darkly decorated hallway. Everything but the red rug running the length of the hall is black, and dim lanterns hang at even intervals on the walls. I feel like I’ve stepped into a gothic fairy tale.

“It’s beautiful, huh?” Az whispers at my side.

“It’s like a castle. Is the whole place this elaborate?”

I look over in time to see him nod, but his eyes stay transfixed ahead. “You haven’t seen anything yet. The main floor is way better.”

He pauses outside a sleek black door and raps his knuckles against the wood. A few moments later, it pops open, and Elio sticks his head out.

“You coming?” Azarius asks.

He nods, and his eyes find their way over to mine. Dressed in his white shirt and navy pants, he looks stunning, and after watching him for a long moment, I realize something looks different about him.

“Where are your wings?” I ask, staring over his shoulders.

I distinctly remember enormous wings folded behind him the first time I ran into him in the monster realm, but now they’re nowhere to be found.

“They make wearing shirts kind of difficult,” he says, tugging on the hem of his shirt. “If you’d prefer, I can go naked.”

Damn it.

Will I ever be able to stop blushing when these two are around?

My guess is no.

“That’s not what I said.” I shake my head. “But I won’t complain either way.”

He grins. “I can use them when I need them. And I put them away when I don’t.”

“Right.”
