“What about murdering people?”

“I need to know that what I tell you, you will not use against me and that everything I’m telling you is hypothetical. And I will deny it if you try to use it against me.

Layla nodded.

“I need to hear you say what I tell you will not leave this car.”

“I promise that I will not use anything you say against you.” Truth be told she was sure she would be fired after what just happened at the restaurant.

“Nothing is done in my organization without my approval. All of my men know that there are dire consequences for disobeying me. Only jobs that I approve get done.” Gabbriello looked into her eyes as he continued. “It’s never for people who just want someone else dead. It always has to be a damn good reason. A spouse that is abusive and trying to kill them, someone getting away with murder, the creepy uncle that won’t leave his niece alone, those kinds of things. The prostitution is just for fun. All my workers know what they are getting into, and they want to do it. If they ever want out or if someone is bothering them, I take care of it. No one hurts anyone who works for me. I don’t care if they are a high-end sex worker, a dancer, or even a maid at the hotel. No one messes with me. That’s why it’s important to me to find out who killed Samantha. Layla, I promise I didn’t hurt her. I want to find out what happened, but I need to know that I can trust you.”

Layla stared at him and could see the sincerity in his eyes. After a few seconds of silence, Layla leans in and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. “I’m not going to turn you in.”

“Layla, I need to know that I can trust you from here on out,”

“Yes, you can trust me, but I also need that same assurance,” Layla responded.

Gabbriello leans in and kisses her back. “Yes, you can.” He didn’t know why he trusted her and why he felt different when she was with him, but he did, and he liked the way she made him feel. He needed her to agree to one more thing and if she refused, he would have to kill her. He thought as he kissed her again.

CHAPTER 17

When they disconnected the kiss, Layla looked him in the eyes, and it unnerved her. How was she is so taken by his charm, so fast? This man saved her life and he wanted to figure out what happened to Samantha. He earned her trust for now, but she wouldn’t hesitate to kill him if she found out he was lying to her and had something to do with Samantha’s death.

“So,” he said as he looked ahead. “Is there anything else I should know?”

Layla averts her gaze out the window. “Well, there is one thing. Do you remember at the diner when we were ordering food?”

“Yes.”

“Well,” she paused. “I don’t like orange juice.”

After a second of silence, they both laughed. He looked at her as he pushed the button for the privacy screen. The dark barrier rose, blocking the driver’s view of what was happening in the back of the SUV. Gabbriello grabbed her arm and guided her on her back. Gabbriello positions himself on top of her as he looked down at Layla. “God, you’re beautiful.”

She smiled. “You aren’t so bad yourself.”

He leaned into her and kissed her hard. With one hand, he unbuckles his belt and the top button of his pants.

Layla pulled down her khaki pants.

His cock is hard and throbbing with excitement.

She takes all of him into her hand and begins moving her palm back and forth on his shaft. Gabbriello lets out a moan.

“Fuck,” he whispered.

Layla whispered back. “Fuck me.”

“With pleasure,” he spread her legs and found his way into her effortlessly. She gasps at the size of him, filling her inside. Together, they move in a steady rhythm. Their sex was almost primal like. They knew something was happening between the two of them. They could feel it, and it was more than sex. It was the first time in a long while that sex meant something to both. It was raw, real, and beautiful. Their rhythm quickened as they moved harder and faster against each other.

“Huh… yes, Gabe,” Layla yelled as her entire body jerked while the most intense orgasm ripped through her body.

Gabbriello could not hold on any longer when he felt her heat milking him. He coded her womb with his seed. He knew there was something real and it momentarily scared him as he gazed into her eyes. She was looking back at him with the same vulnerability he felt. He turned and pulled her on top of him and held her for a while. Gabbriello pulled out of the embrace as they pulled in front of the hotel. They adjusted their clothes before walking into the hotel and headed to Gabbriello’s penthouse to shower.

Gabbriello needed to figure out his next move and he needed to clear his head to do that.

After they showered and dressed, Layla’s phone rang. “Hey mom,” Layla said as she sat on the bed and listened. “Okay, yes, I will be there early. I love you too. See you tomorrow.” She said before disconnecting the call.

Gabbriello watched as she placed her head in her hands. He walked over to comfort her. “The funeral is set for Saturday. I need to spend tomorrow with my family and make sure everything is set for the service.”
