Damn these assholes and their ridiculous attractiveness.

“Anything else?” he asked.

I considered. “We’re assuming the murderer must have come through the house, right? Because it’d be a lot easier to get out onto the third-floor platform of the fire escape that way, and it’s not likely they could have run for it out on the lawn with everyone hurrying out to check Titus’s body.”

“We’ve found no evidence that anyone scaled the fire escape from outside, and no one saw anyone fleeing the scene.”

Fair enough. I nibbled at my lower lip, with a flicker of satisfaction when both Gideon’s and Kaige’s gazes shot straight to my mouth. “I’d still like to see any surveillance footage you’ve got of the yard, just in case.” I hadn’t seen any cameras inside the mansion, naturally. Ezra wouldn’t want his business activities being recorded, even by his own people. Too easy for someone to exploit that for their own gain.

“I’ve looked over it carefully, and so has Anthea,” Gideon said, but he was already turning toward his screens. “You can take your hand out and come have a closer look.”

“Thank you ever so much,” I said with snarky formality, and closed the lid on the tank before wiping my wet hand on my pants. More adrenaline tingled through me as I shot the other guys a fierce smile.

They’d figure out soon enough that I could take anything they threw at me and still come out on top.
