Something internal pulled me up from my seat without a second thought.
He’d been behind me this whole time, but I hadn’t actually looked at him until I was up and facing his direction to coming inside.
He looked good.
For her.
“You’re mad at me,” he guessed. “Why?”
“It doesn’t matter,” I said, walking past him, heading through the halls of the clubhouse to my personal quarters.
He didn’t argue.
At least, not in the hall.
“Hey, Tati,” Brandon said, looking up from a conversation with Ozzy as I turned the corner. “You want to be debriefed now or…?”
“Does it seem like it?” I snapped at him and he frowned.
“Let me holler at you for a second,” he said, gesturing for me to come with him.
I rolled my eyes, barely glancing at Onyx to let him know I’d just meet him in my room.
“What is it?” I asked Brandon, once we were alone. “What do you want?”
“I want to know what’s going on. It’s not like you to sit out of meetings.”
“Well, it was today.”
“Stop it,” he said. “You’re not bugging about him and his ex, are you?” he asked, gesturing out the door.
I raised an eyebrow. “Uh, you were the main one trying to make it look like there was something there.”
“Because I was being petty.” He shrugged. “We all know that nigga is all about you;youknow that nigga is all about you. So what’s really going on?”
I shook my head. “Nothing that’s about to get resolved right now, Brandon, so…?”
He sighed. “Fine. But… be easy, aiight?”
“Whatever,” I said, then headed out the door.
I hated that I’d told Onyx he could wait in my room because all I really wanted to do was get in my bed without any fuss.
Maybe that’s what he wanted too.
I hoped.
But as soon as we were behind my closed door he was on me, blocking me in against the wall.
“Why weren’t you at the meeting?”
“Because I didn’t want to hear about your date with your old bitch,” I said, before I could stop myself.
