“Better to know now than later, right?”

“What?!”

“Baby, listen,” he grabbed my chin. “I know it sounds like a lot. And honestly, maybe thisisreally soon. But… I thought you weren’t pussy?”

“Did you forget your dick is my hand?”

“Not at all. I’m hoping you decide to climb on and teach me a lesson.”

Instead, I squeezed him a little too hard.

“It’s not funny.”

“I’m not laughing,” he countered, still cringing.

I stared at him for a long moment, then pumped my hand again. “Do I need to bring anything?”

“Just yourself. And your sparkling personality.”

“Uh huh.” I hissed as he slipped a hand between my legs, his attention focused on my sensitive clit.

“So you’ll be there?”

A moan rumbled in my throat as he pushed those fingers further – pushed them into me.

“Yes.”

Alicia insisted on an alarm system.

That had been her biggest thing, when I talked to her that morning that followed the break-in.

She was fine with the supposition that this was a random crime or even that I was targeted - for being such a lovely addition to the neighborhood, not for my past.

But still.

She wanted me to get an alarm system at least, just in case.

“Normalcy makes you rusty,”she’d said, meaning it as a teasing thing, but it was rooted in truth. I wasn’t training like I used to - I wasn’t training at all. Wasn’t being challenged in the ways in which I’d grown accustomed.

I was eating too much macaroni and cheese at Pot Liquor, doing too much hanging out and laughing with Anika and Jules, too much texting with Dacia and Pen.

I was gonna open the candle shop. Willow handled most of the paperwork for that, but there was still a need to make a shit ton of candles.

Another deep distraction.

And then - worst? - of all… I was incredibly, disgustingly wrapped up in Tristan.

And I was… happy.

You’d be even happier if you get your ass to that hair appointment..

Oh shit.

Yes.

I was already dressed and ready to go, just had to stop musing about the meaning of life long enough to actually set the alarm on the shop and leave. I was still getting used to it, but it was simple enough.
