The last two days have been amazing. I’ve spent every minute with Liv and almost every minute of that time fucking her. Once I dragged her out of the club, I had her tied to my bed within an hour, and I didn’t let her leave for the following six.

Not that she complained, although she complained this morning that she was sore and informed me that her pussy needed a break.

I made sure to change her mind, after all, her pussy is going to be getting a break after today.

We’re in the elevator on the way up to my lawyer’s office on the top floor. I didn’t tell her exactly why we’re here, just said he had a few questions.

The doors open as we reach the top floor to find Killian and Bella waiting for us.

“Kill?”

“Ronan, why are they here?” I’m about to answer when I’m cut off before I even have a chance to open my mouth.

“MOMMA.”

“Oh my God, baby girl…”

Liv lets go of my hand and I watch as her daughter runs to her, jumping straight into her arms. Killian and Bella beam at them, and I watch as they both sob with tears of joy.

“I don’t understand.” Looking between me and the lawyer, Liv holds onto Maddie so tight I think she’s afraid she’ll just disappear.

“How is she here? Why is she here?”

Drake kneels in front of them both, looking Liv directly in the eye. “Miss Hastings, Maddie has been returned to your care. The custody agreement for the grandparents has been revoked. They tried to claim you ex’s insurance policy, claimed that you coerced him into writing you in as benefactor.

“However, the army found his death in service letter, along with letters sent to him by his parents, detailing that if anything were happen to him, they would take custody of your child and claim the insurance. They believed they deserved that money.”

“Mr Halliwell, thank you so much, I don’t know how I can ever repay you for this.”

“The smile on that little girl’s face is enough.” He stands, shaking mine and Killian’s hand then returns to his office.

Liv turns to me and mouths ‘thank you’. I nod as Killian and I lead us back out of the office to the car park, knowing that once I drop her back home, I’ll lose her. I’ll never spend time with her again, never be able to touch her again.

Knowing I have to let her go for the sake of her and her daughter does nothing to soothe the pain I feel. It does nothing to spare me from the darkness that I feel building inside of me.

Chapter 32

Liv

“Hi, Momma.”

“Good morning, baby girl.” I laugh as she runs her fingers all over my face, touching me as if she thinks I’m not real.

I didn’t think I’d get this again, I never thought I’d feel her fingers tracing my eyes, nose and mouth. Never thought I’d hear her say ‘hi momma’ in the morning.

“Momma, the door.”

I groan, knowing I’m going to have to get up to answer it. “I know, baby, I hear it.”

We lay there for another minute or so, when they knock again. I can’t really complain, I’ve had Maddie to myself for the last three days.

I’m hoping it’s Ronan at the door––I’ve not heard from him since we left the office and he dropped me off here.

He didn’t even come in, he just stood in the doorway and told me that he’d arranged for the spare room to be kitted out for her return.

I’ve text him a few times, but he’s only responded to me once, saying he hoped we were okay and that he’d talk to me soon.
