I watch the guy’s eyes widen in fear and he lets out a small, muffled moan behind Killian’s hand as Connor slams the knife into his heart.

They gently lower him to the floor and we head into the hall where Ronan is dragging the other guy down the corridor. He gives us a small look as he throws him over the railing and down the stairs––several large thuds can be heard and then nothing.

Kill and Connor flatten themselves against the wall as I run into the room and hide in the bathroom. I watch through the crack in the door as José appears. Looking confused, he heads to the door to the hall, and just as he’s about to stick his head out, I rush at him, slamming him against the wall.

I wrap my arm around his throat and drag him backwards, kicking his legs out from under him. He grabs and scratches at my arms like the little bitch that he is, his arm swinging wildly behind him, trying to get an angle to shoot me. Killian walks into the room and kicks the gun from his hand, as Connor runs towards the panic room.

I squeeze tighter around his neck. I don’t want him dead, not yet, anyway. His movements get slower and weaker the harder I squeeze, and a minute later, he goes limp. I quickly release my hold, throwing him out of my arms and running to Cara, as Kill and Ronan kneel, checking he’s still alive and securing him.

Connor is on the floor behind Cara, his arms wrapped around her as they breathe through a contraction. I lean down to her level and smile, cupping her face and running my thumb across her bottom lip. “You seem like you’re doing okay. You wanna have the baby here? I can call the doc.”

He face immediately changes, and I curl my lips inward to stop myself from laughing. “Finn O’Farrell, you will take me to the hospital right this goddamn minute or so help me I will shoot you myself.”

* * *

We barely made it to the hospital before the little man made an appearance. Cara was outstanding. What her body was put through to bring another life into this world is a miracle. I was mesmerised, my hand gripping hers as she pushed all six pounds and six ounces of our little boy out into the world.

I look down at Cara curled into my side and at the little man on my chest. The love I feel for these two makes me feel like my heart is going to explode. I never thought I was capable of love, not like this, and nor did I ever think I’d find it.

She stirs and her hands runs across my stomach and then up until she touches his legs. The moment she feels him, her eyes open and fix on him. I watch her watching him, her eyes filling with tears, the pure unfiltered love dancing in her eyes.

“Is he okay? Have you seen the family yet? I’m so sorry I fell asleep.”

I chuckle. “You just gave birth; I think you can be forgiven for falling asleep. I’ve not seen the family yet, I wanted you with me, and he’s perfect.” I place a kiss on his forehead then lean down and place one on Cara’s head.

“He really is perfect.” She rests her head on my chest and watches him. We stay like that for another twenty minutes before I can’t take it anymore––my phone has been going nonstop for the last hour. I can hear it vibrating in my jacket pocket, and it’s driving me insane.

I grab my phone, ignoring the crazy amount of messages and missed calls and open a blank message. I take a picture of the three of us, Cara with her tired smile, me beaming at the camera, and the back of the little man’s head, then I add it to the body of the text.

O’Farrell’s
