I’ll see you soon.

See you soon.

Now for the call. Grabbing my phone, I hit the call button. It only rings for a couple rings before he picks up.

“Drake, everything okay?”

“Hey, Killian. Listen, I need to talk to you all. Any chance we can get together, somewhere secure?”

“Is everything okay?” He sounds suspicious. I’m not surprised though, I am being a bit cryptic.

“Yeah, I just need to talk to you all about a couple of things.”

“Okay, we’ll all be at Finn’s tomorrow, so why don’t you come over?”

“Great, thanks. I’ll be there tomorrow.”

“Yeah.” He hangs up, and I’d be a lot more offended if I thought he meant something by it, but this is Killian we’re talking about. The fucker is ruthless.

I grab the box, checking through each item, double checking everything is there––the photos, statements, records, diaries, and the letters, one for each of them. I read them off as I drop each one back in the box. “Ronan, Finn, Killian, Connor.”

This is morbid as fuck, but it’s what he paid me for.

Grabbing my laptop and the box, I lock my office door as I head out.

I’ll take the box home and secure it in the safe before I take it over there tomorrow. It’s finally coming to an end. The pieces of the puzzle officially fit together, they’ll be able to get their closure, and I’m hoping once I hand this off, I’ll finally get a good night’s sleep.

I’ve been sitting outside the house for the last hour. Everyone is in there, and I mean everyone. Plucking up the courage, I grab the box and climb out. I lock the car then take a deep breath and head up to the front door, but before I have a chance to raise my hand, the door flies open.

“Why the fuck have you been sitting outside for the last hour?” Killian huffs at me as he opens the door wider for me to pass. He waves his arm towards the front room, and I falter as I step through the door. Everyone turns to me and waits for me to speak.

This is it, now or never. “I have something for you, gentlemen. Actually, I have a few things for you.” I pull the first letter out of my pocket and hand it over to Killian.

“Rory secured my services before he died. That letter will explain it, and everything in this box is everything you will need to help you.”

“What?” Killian takes a step back, looking down at the letter I’ve just handed him like it might go up in flames.

“Rory made sure this box contains everything you need to win.”

I watch the family look from one to the other and then back again.

I place the box on the table then retreat into the kitchen, giving them the space that they’ll need before I drop the biggest bombshell later.
