"I'm not sure what you think you're doing, but you need to get your hands off my girl."

Oh my god, this can't be happening right now. Mason steps in front of me. "Excuse me, what do you mean, your girl? I'm pretty sure if she was anyone's girl, I'd know about it."

The two are evenly matched in the physique department, so I couldn't say that August would completely annihilate Mason, but I also don't want to see this come to blows. We are in the parking lot at work, for crying out loud.

I step between both of them, trying to deescalate the situation.

"August, you can't be serious right now. We haven't even been on a date."

He's quick to add, "Yet. We haven't been on a date yet, but I'm pretty sure the plan was to remedy that tonight, and seeing as how you already said yes, that makes you mine."

If my eyes could spit fire right now, August would be a pile of ashes.

"Is this guy for real, Gianna? You're going on a date with him tonight?"

When I turn to face Mason, his eyes immediately catch mine, and I know he can see my shame and regret. He knows it's true. Immediately he turns and walks off towards his car. I start to go after him, but August grabs my wrist. As I try to pull away, he says, "Don't make me any madder than I already am."

Is he fucking serious? He's mad? I'm about to lose my damn mind.

"You're mad? Do you have any idea what you've just done? I hate you!"

He still doesn't release my arm.

"Right now, I don't care if you hate me as long as his lips aren't on yours."

Then he releases me and turns to walk back into the building. It's too late to run after Mason. He's already pulled out and left. Opening the door to my car, I take a seat. When I look up, I realize my car is parked directly in front of the executive offices. August must have seen our entire exchange.Shit

August

I'mfuckingseething.Sittingin my dad's office waiting for him to get off a call across the hall, when, what do I look up and see? Gianna standing outside the windows in the parking lot, hugging the guy from Monday night. Is she fucking kidding me right now? We have a date tonight! I never made her answer my questions about who the men I saw her with this week were, but that's because it didn't matter. She is going to be mine.

When I noticed how low the prick had his hands on her back, I was out of my seat and storming out to the parking lot. I wasn't going to let whatever the fuck was going on outside play out. By the time I made it outside, he was kissing her. It took all of my self-control not to break his nose right there. The only reason it didn't happen was that we were at Reds.

I might be a pigheaded asshole at times, but I'm not going to bring that kind of attention to Reds, in addition, my dad would be furious.

Whomever this dick is, Gianna clearly has feelings for him. I could see it in how they looked at each other, which made me want to rage. She was going to run after him until I stopped her.

This isn't my fault. She's the one that decided to have a full-on PDA moment in the parking lot for all to see. Not to mention I already made it abundantly clear that she had no option but to go on a date with me tonight. Why she thought it was okay to let another man touch her is beyond me. She is mine. She just doesn't know it yet.

If she thought telling me she hated me was going to cancel the date, that was wishful thinking. I told her I was calling her bluff. Gianna had a week to cancel, and she didn’t. If she truly didn’t want this date, she would have found a way out.

It's4pm,andI'm waiting in the parking lot by Gianna's car. I'm trying to calm my nerves from earlier. I know once we can sit down and have a drink, things will be less heavy. I'm taking her to this little Italian bistro by my place. The ambiance is mellow, it's never crowded, and it's the perfect place to unwind.

Scrolling through emails, my heart rate spikes again when I get a text.

Carson: Hey babe, you haven't been texting me. I'll be home on the 20th. See you soon, miss you.

Finally, she noticed I'm giving her the space she requested. It only took her a week to care I hadn't responded to her last text. Carson is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. I hate when she tries to play that card. She's up to something or someone, but now that I'm not sending her a weekly text, she decides to play the girlfriend card.Miss you, we haven't said that to each other in months, hell maybe even years.

Just as I'm starting to get annoyed again, I catch sight of a yellow shirt and look up to see my girl walking my way.

Schooling my expression, I keep it neutral as I check her out from head to toe. I was so caught up in my fury earlier that I didn't take time to admire her flirty outfit. She looks amazing apart from that scowl she's wearing.

Once she makes it to the car, she says one word, "Ready?" I guess she hasn't figured out that I like it when she's feisty.

"I'm always ready for you."
