"Yes, Gigi, I'm here, now hurry up and get out here."

"Okay, see you in a minute."

Running around the cabin, I search for my discarded clothes. I really should have been more responsible and asked the important questions. Getting kidnapped and told you can't have contact with anyone back home is a big deal. This entire situation is serious. Every time I'm around August, this happens. My judgment gets clouded, and I do things completely out of character. Maybe things will change now that we are officially a couple.

I had no idea Mason would be here when I got off the plane. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, why didn't he come to get me in the first place?

Now that I'm dressed, I lean over and run my fingers through August's silky hair and kiss his cheek.

"Wake up, baby. We've landed." He starts to stir, and I place a kiss on his lips. "We've landed. Get dressed." When I go to pull away, he clasps my wrist.

"Where are you running off to? I want more of those." I smile down at him. He's just so damn sexy, especially when he's lying naked in bed because he just fucked me. Swiftly I place one more, quick kiss on his lips before slipping my hand out of his grip.

"Mason just called. He's outside waiting. Get dressed, and I'll meet you outside."

His eyes go wide. "What do you mean he's outside?"

Turning, I start walking toward the door. "I mean, he's outside on the tarmac. I'm going to go say hi."

I'm already through the main cabin when he calls out, "Gianna, wait." I hear what sounds like him rolling off the bed, no doubt hastily fumbling around looking for his clothes to catch up with me, but I want to have a second alone when I see Mason, so I don't wait.

The last time I saw Mason, he was lying in a hospital bed, telling me he still wanted everything. I know I don't have time to tell him how I feel, but I at least want to walk off this plane alone and not rub it in his face that I'm with August.

When I reach the stairs to exit the plane, he's leaning up against the side of a blacked-out Tahoe. My heart stumbles the moment his eyes meet mine. Why does he have to be so fine? Those damn blue eyes get me every time. Not to mention his swagger. The man is always dressed in joggers and tight-fitted t-shirts that show off every toned muscle of his fit physique. These thoughts will get me nowhere. I made my choice, and it's not him. I close my eyes to tear myself out of my lustful haze before making my way down the stairs. I've made my bed, now I must sleep in it.

"Hey Gigi, I'm so sorry about everything. I hope you can forgive me for sending you away like that. I asked you if you trusted me before you left my room, and a part of me feels like I may have betrayed that with the actions that followed."

I can see in his face that he genuinely regrets how he handled things, but when it's all said and done, he was trying to look out for me. Throwing my arms around his neck, I hug him tight. He's hesitant but eventually loops his arms around my waist and hugs me back.

Why did he hesitate?

"Thank you," I mumble into his neck. His breath catches, but before he can respond, we're interrupted.

"Croft, I'm going to have to ask you to stop touching my girl. She made her choice."

Mason takes a deep breath before he releases me and I swing around to face August. I swear I'm going to punch him in the throat. Did he really have to say that now, of all the times? Before I can even react, he's by my side with his arm wrapped around my waist, squeezing my bare hip and pulling me into his side.

"What's so important that you needed to meet us here at the airstrip?"

Mason's gaze is focused on the hand August has on my hip, and I see him set his jaw. He's mad, and he's hurt, but there is something else there that I can't quite place. I try to pull out of August's grip, but he only tightens his hold.

Mason pulls his gaze from my hip up to my eyes, and I swear I see actual pain. Something is very wrong.

"Mason, what's going on? You know I can see it. What aren't you telling me?"

He searches my face, for what, I don't know, before dropping his eyes to the ground.

"There's been an accident."

August tightens his grip on me and protectively pulls me to his front, wrapping his arms around me.

"Mason, what do you mean? Who's been in an accident?"

"Gigi, I'm so sorry, but your dad is dead."

It takes a moment for those words to register and truly sink in. A normal person would be consumed with pain and grief, but I don't feel anything. Why don't I feel anything? What is wrong with me? I'm just staring back at him, watching his lips move but hearing no words. That's when August ushers us into the SUV.

"Let's go. We need to get out of here." He puts his hand on my lower back and ushers me toward the car. Once I'm in, he fastens my seat belt before getting in the driver's seat. Mason climbs in back, and we take off.
