Julius is facedown while the three bikers are flanking Ezra.

“Let’s get Jorie and throw her ass out of here along with the shit in her room Sonnet boxed up,” I snap and head for the clubhouse.

The both of us jog in that direction. From the corner of my eye I notice movement from behind the clubhouse, as if someone is trying to climb out through a window.

“Motherfucker. I think she’s going out the back.” I point at the front entrance and order Tikki, “You go in through the front, I’ll go around and see what the fuck she’s doing.”

I notice the other members are riding through the pasture on their horses, coming this way. I jog around the clubhouse and indeed see Jorie ungracefully tumble out of a window. Seriously, what the hell is going on? She’s wearing a miniskirt and heels, why would she leave through the window?

I’m about to call out but now notice the front of her shirt that’s scattered with blood and she’s holding a knife in her hand. She stumbles to her feet and pulls her phone from her pocket while she starts running. On. Heels.

She doesn’t even hear me coming as I keep my gaze on the hand holding the knife but manage to punch her in the face at the same time. Jorie’s knees hit the dirt and she growls a few curses. The arm holding the knife swings forward but I kick her forearm and it causes her to lose grip on the weapon as it goes flying.

“You brought this on yourself, you fucking cunt,” Jorie spits and is now pointing her phone at me while she jabs the screen, as if it’s her best weapon.

I’m about to grab her by the leather cut she’s still wearing but the explosion coming from behind me knocks the wind right out of my lungs and I crash to the ground, landing on my side. My ears are ringing and Jorie’s laughter is faint but distinct. I’m shaking my head in an effort to clear it and comprehend what the hell just happened when searing pain hits my eye.

Momentarily stunned, I shake my head again but training kicks in and I quickly get to my feet. I’m shocked to see part of the wall of the clubhouse is gone and when I swing my head in Jorie’s direction I see her running toward a car with her freaking heels in her hand. I take a few steps in her direction but she’s already getting in the car as it speeds off.

Turning, I rush toward the clubhouse and take in the devastation of the building. My heart is slamming against my rib cage. Sonnet was inside. Tikki as well. Racing around the clubhouse I’m about to go inside when a strong arm wraps around my waist.

“Not a fucking chance, Prez. This is where me and my guys step in. Let us handle this,” Ezra says and lets me go to step in front of me. “Stay here and talk to your girls. Me and my guys have handled worse and believe me, if something happened to any one of your members, you do not want that memory locked in your head, get me?”

“Just hurry,” I snap.

“Ambulances are on the way, ma’am. I called them before it happened since Ezra beat the guy at the gate to a pulp,” a guy says while he jogs past us and enters the clubhouse, two other guys on his heel while Ezra steps away from me and follows them inside.

Ramona, Medley, Posie, and Cassia come running my way while the others are holding onto the horses.

“What the hell happened? We heard a blast. Some of the horses were spooked,” Medley says while her eyes are fixed on the clubhouse.

One of the guys who walked inside with Ezra comes out of the clubhouse, holding what looks to be Sonnet. The way her body is all slack? I don’t think she’s conscious. He gently places her on the ground and brushes her hair away from her face. She has lacerations all over her body and a shard of metal sticking out of her leg.

“She has a steady heartbeat. Ambulance should be here any minute. Stay with her and stay here,” the guy orders and rushes back inside.

I drop to my knees and gently brush my fingers along her cheek. “Sonnet, come on, babe, open your eyes.”

A soft moan tumbles over her parted lips before she whispers, “Ouch.”

Posie chokes on a sob, “Damn you. Scaring all of us like that.”

“I did say ouch,” Sonnet grunts while she tries to sit up.

Medley unties the bandana she has wrapped around her neck and wipes the smudges off Sonnet’s forehead. “There. EMTs are coming and what if there’s a hot dude, huh? You can’t flirt with smudges on your face.”

Sonnet tries to laugh but she clutches her chest.

“The blast must have thrown you against the wall. You have to get checked at the hospital for broken ribs and have your head examined,” a deep rumble states from behind me.

“Step aside hot EMTs, here come the Cowboy Bikers. And who might you be, handsome?” my sister asks without any shame.

The deep voice now turns into a husky chuckle but my attention slides to Ezra who is walking out of the clubhouse with two others. All of their faces looking grim.

“Oh, no,” I whisper and push off the ground to get to my feet and head to Ezra. “Tikki?”

He gives a curt shake and murmurs, “I’m so fucking sorry, babe.”

I close my eyes and swallow hard to push my emotions down. I have to be strong for all of my sisters. And this is so far beyond fucked-up to lose yet another one of us to an explosion at the clubhouse.
