“Me personally?” Hack questioned. “Or the MC as a whole, because I’d be building a house as big as Mountain’s with what your ass would go for on the black market.”

Smacking the back of his head for the insolence as well as letting him know she was dressed he spun back around.

“What? You think I’d let you go for less than five mill?” he questioned. “I mean we have you out on eBay, craig’s list—”

“Not funny,” she chided her friend.

“Sorry Bugs is being an asshole. I’d blame it on what happened and what he’s going through, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t the reason.”

“Then what is it?”

“I’m not sure how to tell you this, Porsche, but you may have initiated an emotion the SEALs are trained to avoid. Well not so much avoid but be able to tuck in a box and take out only in the rare moments when you need inspiration to kill something to get home.

“Don’t,” she warned. “I’ve already decided I can’t with him because he can’t see past my job.”

“Does that mean you don’t love him?”

“Preacher Girl has made you soft,” she growled.

“Look familiar?” he questioned. “Because it takes one in love to call out another.”

“I don’t like you,” she grumbled. “Have you at least learned the drop?”

“Would it be wrong to wear knee pads?” he questioned.

“Probably would have saved the priests their knees,” she countered. “Has the collar come in from the costume shop?”

Hack flipped the thin white piece from his pocket he’d be wearing with the black priest button down shirt. The fact he was dancing toOMGby Usher in a priest outfit reminded her of the days she danced toLike a Prayerby Madonna. Either way the women were going to lose their shit if she could get him to move his hips like he was having sex.

“Ugh, fine I’ll help, but your best friend is still an asshole.”

“Cass? What did he do?” Hack whined as he stood.

“Where are the four stooges? They’re the ones claiming they’re gonna dance toLady Marmalade.”

She should have been here, how did the women balance their families and their lives?

“The other three were coming later since Cass has the three kids and needed to do daddy duty first.”

“And Bounty and Freaky don’t?”

“Little easier with the ones just starting to crawl compared to Chaos and Mayhem,” he said. “You’ve been playing mommy for a bit now with Sydie Bean.”

The mention of the little girl sent a pang of pain to the center of her chest. One she shouldn’t have to feel the range of emotions rushing through her and now she understood what Hack was saying. Bugs had fallen in love with her and the passion between them had set him off kilter. But two people can’t find balance without holding on tight and she wasn’t sure she had the strength to carry an uneven burden.

The punch to the jaw that send Mike tumbling backward into the side of the trailer did more than make his jaw click. It was a cheap shot and the only way Hack got it off came from him asking to have a talk and walk. Luring him into a beatdown as if he’d killed the man’s dog.

His response was one of bull rushing the man if he ever got to his feet only to get a boot to his face sending ass over tea kettle as the rattle of teeth and the flush of metallic blood hit his tongue. Spitting he stayed on all fours, ready to drop prone if needed to avoid the other bell ringing hit. When instinct took over and he grasped the man’s ankle and tried to flip his ass with a quick jerk only to earn himself a shoulder popping response when he pulled back.

“I’m not the rookie in the unit, Bugs,” he said.

“What the fuck Creek?” he coughed, but was glad the man hadn’t gone for the gut or the solar plexus, but the mix of blood and acid needed to be spat out.

Hack dropped to a crouch to look him in the eye. Dark warning from a man he considered a brother. It was why even as the instinct told him to fight, he refused to take up arms against the man.

“Porsche said you didn’t understand the payment system for touching one of the women around here without her permission. This is the first payment, you ready for the rest?”
