While I burrowed back down into mine, I did not sleep.

A little girl.

A precious baby girl.

A Viking, his queen, and their princess.

Lucky little bean.

Chapter Six – Full Disclosure

Lucky

So, it was official.

For the first time ever, I wanted to hide my man-whore status.

Never, in all my life, did I care what a woman thought or felt about my dating habits.

Until now.

That spark of jealousy in Minty’s eyes when I mentioned the extra helmet warmed my heart and shriveled my balls.

Because I cared what Minty thought. A lot. And I didn’t want any obstacles to stand in the way of getting to know her.

I gave my head a shake at the intensity of my feelings. We hadn’t even had one date. It didn’t matter. I could reason to myself all I wanted but having watched Barrett and Lenny fall like two great trees the previous summer, I knew it was possible. I had started to believe myself immune to that type of experience.

Now I feared? Hoped? Thrilled? That I wasn’t.

Because I wouldn’t mind having what Barrett and Lenny had. Hell, Rhys and Zale had it pretty damn good, too.

I wondered if Minty wanted that, too.

The light turned green, and I rolled through the intersection, flicking on my indicator to turn into the hospital parking lot.

I grinned at the thought of Barrett being a girl dad, then twisted my mouth in compassionate solidarity.

Zale and Rhys walked out of the hospital with their wives just as I was heading in.

Mara’s face lit with excitement when she saw me. “Hey! Are you going to see the baby?”

I smiled at her obvious joy. “You’ve seen her?”

Zale snorted. “She hasn’t left since Willa called her to go with them last night.”

It was only then that I noticed she was wearing the same outfit as yesterday.

“Minty’s up there now,” she informed me, her gaze narrowing in on my face expectantly.

My heart skipped a beat and my eyebrows shot up before I had a chance to school my reaction.

Mara looked pointedly at Bex, who assessed me curiously, her clear blue eyes searching my face.

Zale and Rhys met my eyes over their heads and smiled in commiseration.

Rhys laughed and cupped his wife around the back of her neck. “C’mon, sweetness. Give the man some space.”

Zale held up his fist for a bump, his smile wry. “Good luck, bud.”
