I shook it off. If they knew my actual thoughts, they’d run for the hills.

“What’s up, bitch! You look hot!” Junie’s voice hit me, and I spun around in time to catch her as she flew at me. Her curtain of white-blond hair blew lightly around her exquisite face. She looked like a fairy princess.

She spoke like a sailor.

“Hello, beautiful.” I held her out in front of me. “You’re stunning, Junie,” I admitted truthfully.

She curtsied and winked bawdily, looking me up and down. “I’d do you,” she quipped. “You have Lenny’s tie?”

If I felt eyes on me before, it was doubly apparent now with my little hooligan spouting off in front of me. I passed her the tie. “Here you go, lovely.”

She ran the tie through her hands. “Nice!” she drawled slowly. “It’s going to look awesome wrapped around my wrists later,” she whispered.

I laughed. “You’re incorrigible.”

She skipped off to give Lenny, the drummer in Barrett’s band and her beau, his tie.

I watched her go, a smile on my face, and caught sight of the guys watching with grins on their faces. I rolled my eyes. Zale smiled bigger, Barrett flashed his teeth, and Rhys laughed out loud. Frigging eye candy.

There was only one man left, a long, lean, blond fellow sitting on the bench to the side of the arbor, his acoustic guitar settled on his lap as he gently strummed.

Although I’d never met him, I knew he was the other lead guitarist in Barrett’s band. My eyes ran over his form, and in my imagination, my hands did the same. I shook off the errant thought, although this time it brought no guilt.

Crossing to him, I held the tie out in front of me.

He glanced down at the tie then back up to meet my eyes.

I followed her progress as she made her way across the grass to the men. Noted her discomfort, her relief as she excused herself, the tension in her frame as she walked away.

Watched her with Lenny’s spitfire, Junie. Watched Junie with her. Saw how she loved her.

Made me wonder.

I caught her as she swept that cool gaze down my body, resting momentarily on my hands plucking the strings, before carrying on.

I noted the little shake she gave herself and readied myself to meet those eyes.

And dive in.

Her wide mouth tipped into a polite smile as she held out the tie, waiting for me to take it. Reluctant to end the interaction, I refrained from reaching for the tie. I glanced at it and wondered how it would look wrapped aroundherdelicate wrists.

Was she the type to go for that?

Looking up, I met her eyes and something inside them flashed.
