Nora’s cheeks reddened more with each word he said.
“If ye have no wish to—”
“I have never taken a walk with a man before,” she blurted out before stopping herself.
“Never?”
“No,” the rims of her eyes were red with tears now. She looked down and there was silence.
When Jonan spoke next, his voice was a bit hoarse. “Good.”
Nora looked up to him.
Good? Why did he find it good that I had never walked with a man?
“Shall we begin this again? Would ye like a walk?”
Relieved by his response, Nora nodded. “Yes, I would.”
