"I think instead of taking the most direct route, we should walk mostly under the trees," she said, moving her fingers over the flames. "It might add some time, but it'll give us a little more protection from the rain. Maybe let us travel for longer."

"Then that's what we'll do."

"You don't think there's a better way?"

"I trust you," I smiled, loving the blush that dusted her cheeks as the fire warmed her skin. "You've gotten us this far by yourself. You'll get us the rest of the way."

She smiled, averting her eyes and turning her attention to the flames.

It was true. There weren't many beings in this land that I'd so willingly trust my life to, but this Omega was one of them. My overwhelming sense of despair that consumed me the night before had dimmed considerably. My pride was still deeply wounded at my inability to protect Tzidal, but I had to get over it. This land was built to eat beasts like me alive, and it made me want to laugh. The strongest creatures in Havre were made to die here, but a simple Omega could conquer the rain without even trying.

"I can't feel my wolf," Tzidal said softly. "It's weird. I never realized how heavily I relied on her to tell me how to react. What to do, where to go, when to run. I feel lonely without her."

I nodded.

I didn't feel lonely, though. I felt empty. I was my wolf, and my wolf was me. An Alpha's dynamic with their beast was so drastically different than Betas and Omegas. We inhabited each other, thinking together, acting as one. I just hoped my wolf would come back. He had to come back. But I couldn't help the feeling that he might never return, that I was abandoned. A husk of a were with no beast to guide me.

"It'll be okay." I forced myself to smile. "Your wolf will return once we get to Vaesen."

Tzidal brought her finger up and poked my dimple gently, giving me a teasing smile. Then she slapped my cheek. "Don't lie to me, you jerk. It doesn't make me feel any better."

I laughed. I couldn't help it.

She laughed with me, and we both fell into a happy moment, something neither one of us head felt in awhile. Our pain and exhaustion completely forgotten for a moment.

She nuzzled her head into my shoulder. "I'm so glad you're awake," she sighed. "It's been very scary out there without you."

I looked down into her wide, golden eyes, wanting to say something comforting, but I was caught off guard by her sweet expression and delicate features; long lashes, soft cheeks, and her nose rounded at the end like the bud of a bellflower. She looked tired and hungry and scared. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

Placing my hand under her chin, I tilted her head up. The world faded away as I looked at the soft curve of her lips. I leaned down, pressing my mouth gently against hers, before fully leaning into her and kissing her long and deep.

Tzidal

I thoughtI would never again feel anything other than the itch of water crawling across my skin. The last few days had deadened and washed away my senses, leaving me numb to all sensation. But right now, I was on fire. Alive with lust and desire so intense, I felt like I could burst into flame at any moment.

Joon ran his hands down the curve of my back, holding me tight as his tongue explored my mouth with a rough, possessive intensity. My eyes drifted to the unconscious siren right next to us, and I pulled away.

"Lex," I whispered.

Nodding, Joon quickly stood. Holding me in his arms, he moved to the far end of the cave and laid me on the cool stone, pulling my shirt quickly over my head. I shivered as the cold air hit my sensitive skin.

The Alpha's hooded eyes moved over my exposed flesh, his member already hard and leaking. He cupped my breasts with his large hands and pulled a nipple into his mouth. I whimpered as his hot tongue swiped and flicked at my pert buds. I needed more. More of his touch, his taste, his scent.

He switched between soft, delicate kisses and lust-filled nips, intensifying the tingle in my core. I could feel myself growing wet and ready for him, my thighs rubbing together with each swipe of his tongue.

"Joon?" I whispered, my cheeks flushed as I gathered my courage.

"Yes?" he asked with a deep, husky voice. His almond-shaped eyes drifted up to my face.

"Will you...will you…" I looked away, feeling overly self-conscious.

"What do you want, baby?" he asked, dragging his lips over the swell of my breasts and up my neck. "Tell your Alpha what you need." His mouth lingered just beneath my ear, making me shiver.

"Will you...lick me?" My voice was so small I was scared he hadn't heard me, but he smiled wide. A deep rumble rolled off his chest and vibrated against my skin, making my core clench.

"Of course." He licked his lips.
