“Yeah, sweet boy. Come on in.” I lift the blanket to my side of the bed since I’ve been sleeping on Eliot’s, and he climbs in. “They’ll be back soon.” He’s been worse off than I have. He has no idea where Posey is, none of us do. I’d be in his same position if I didn’t know where Eliot was. I talk to him every once in a while, when he’s able to make a call or send a text. He’s been doing a lot of following, so he can’t talk much.

“I hope so. I don’t know how much longer I can go without knowing. My brother hasn’t been able to give me much information and it’s killing me. I need her back mama. I need them back. They’re my everything.” He weeps. Whoever said men don’t cry are liars. Men cry all the time. Snoopy, Westyn, Doc, and Griller went with Eliot to Arizona. They couldn’t take more people because it would draw attention to them, and we couldn’t have that happening. They brought Doc with them because he’s the club’s doctor and an enforcer.

“I know honey. I know exactly how you feel. You just need to trust that they’ll bring her back. The last time I spoke to Eliot, they were getting close. Just have a little bit more patience. I can feel it in my bones that they’re going to bring her back safe and sound. Doc is there in case anything is wrong. Who knows how many other people are in that auction. Just keep the faith, Gavin. Now, get some sleep.” I watch as he burrows into the covers and falls to sleep. I get up with ten minutes before my alarm and head towards the kitchen. I’m starving, and I know Morgan would appreciate something other than cereal for breakfast.

I walk into the kitchen and grab bacon, eggs, and biscuits out of the fridge. I also grab the milk and flour to make homemade gravy. It all sounds amazing to me and the baby. The baby is the one that makes my meal decisions anyways. Happy baby equals happy mommy. It doesn’t take long for me to get everything done. I have it set out on the table by the time the boys make their way out of the rooms. Gavin never sleeps long after falling asleep in our bed. Just until Morgan starts to rise and move around the house.

“Have you heard from dad lately mom?” He asks, coming into the kitchen. He sits at the table and makes himself a plate. “I haven’t heard from him in a while. I know he talks to you more than I get to because I’m always busy with school.” I look at my son and see his father staring back at me. He could be his twin if I didn’t know any better. He even acts the exact same way as Eliot. He’s smart as a whip too. He’s grown so much since he’s come to the clubhouse, and it warms my heart to see it.

“Not for a couple days Morgan. I’m hoping he’ll call today with news. I’ll let you know if I do hear something. Now, eat your breakfast. You kids are going to have to catch the bus today because Ali and Hannah need to be at the clinic early. I have to be in the clubhouse early so I can get some work done.” Just as I finish talking Danny, Murdock, and Wendy walk through the door. “Come on in kids. I’ve made breakfast.”

“Hey Lanis. How are you holding up?” Ali asks.

“As good as I could be considering everything. It doesn’t get any easier, but I’m trying harder for the baby and my family. What I was doing when she was first taken, not eating or sleeping. I can’t do that now. I need to be strong for the baby and for when Posey comes home. Have you heard from your brother?” I reply.

“Not for a couple days. I know they’ve found the auction. They’re just waiting for the right time to attack. They have to do it at the right time or there could be more casualties than just the bad guys.” Ali says.

“Jackson said the same thing. He’s wishing he could have gone, but he’s got so much going on right now, he couldn’t get away.” Hannah says. “They’ll be back soon. I know it.”

“How many strays are they bringing back?” I ask. I know when I talked to Eliot the other day, he said that there looked to be around fifteen to twenty children, under the age of twelve. That’s not counting how many others there are.

“Won’t know until they get here. Anyways, thanks for seeing the kids to the bus stop. We’ve got to get to the clinic. It’s the day the veterans come in for their free day. It’s normally a busy day, so we like to get a head start on it. It’s also one of my favorite days. I love hearing their old war stories.” Aliana says.

“No problem. I’m going to drop them off on my way to get all the receipts and stuff I need.” I walk them to the door before walking back into the kitchen and getting myself some breakfast. “Fifteen minutes and then we need to head to the bus stop.” We all finish our breakfast and Gavin heads towards his and Posey’s room while the rest of us head towards the garage. It doesn’t take long to get the kids settled and make it to the bus stop.

The longest part of my day is going to each company the club owns and getting the receipts. I end up talking to everyone for a few minutes before finally getting to go on my way. It’s also a good way to get my mind clear and think about everything going on in my life. I miss my husband like crazy, but I know he won’t come home until Posey is safe and sound. That right there makes me love him even more than I already do.

Normally when I make it to the clubhouse, I head straight for my office, but this time I stop in my tracks. There, standing in the middle of the room, is my husband, and my daughter. “Posey!” I rush, as fast I can, to her side and bring her into my arms, hugging her tight. She’s home! She’s finally home! I hold her out so I can look her over. She has a few bruises, but nothing serious.

“I’m okay mom. They just smacked me around. They didn’t want to ruin their meal tickets.” She snarks. “I promise, they didn’t do anything other than that. I knew dad would come. I knew he would. I didn’t lose hope. I always kept hope. I knew he would come for us.” She places a hand on her round stomach. She’s four months along. She’s a month behind me, and I’m a month behind Aliana. “Your parents are fucking crazy by the way. They kept talking about how you ruined everything by getting pregnant with me. That they should have locked you up when they had the chance. A bunch of crazy stuff.”

“Posey!” Gavin rushes through the doors and towards Posey. I go towards my husband.

“You brought her home! Thank you so much.” I smash my lips to his. I’ve missed him so much.

“I will always bring her home to you. I was trying everything in my power to bring her home.” He tells me when our mouths part. “I love you so much. I love our children, and grandchildren. Hopefully she waits until she’s graduated college before she gives us anymore. Before you ask, your parents are in custody and Hanson was found dead in his estate. We’re unsure what happened to him but fuck if I care. Your parents are going to go away for the rest of their lives. We have some strays, but Case has them at a safe house and we’ll go from there on what to do with the ones that don’t have a place to go.” This man is simply amazing.

“I love you too. I’m so sorry for everything that happened. I should have listened to you and trusted you. I’m so sorry.” I sob. He brings me into his arms and whispers soothing words to calm me down. I’m so glad that he’s home. “Don’t ever leave again for that long. I can’t take it. I haven’t been able to sleep. The doctor is worried about me ending up with some complications if I don’t start getting more sleep than a one or two hours a night.”

“Why didn’t you tell me any of this when we were on the phone? No. Wait, I already know. You didn’t want me distracted and worrying about your health would have done that. I’m home now little minx, and I don’t plan on going anywhere.” He tells me. I snuggle deep into his chest and watch Posey reunite with everyone. My husband’s home. My daughter is home. My family is back together. It’s been a long few months, but we made it through, practically unscathed.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.
