“Anyway, moral of the story is, you’ve been told when you were going to take over. These boys didn’t. Surround yourself with good men and you’ll be just fine.” Kyle, Ghost’s dad, says. Kai seems more relaxed than he was before the men started their story.

“My father just came to me one day and said to get my ass up it was time for me to prove I have what it took to be the Don.” My dad says. “No warning, just a four o’clock wake up call.”

“If you ever need anything, my door is always open, and my phone is always on.” Westyn tells my brother. I love that they’re getting along so great.

“Same goes for me man. I’m glad my sister has you guys at her back.” Kai says.

“She’s family, and her family is our family. Never forget that.” Rob said. My heart melted at his statement. My eyes start to water, and I blink ferociously and take a sip of my drink. “Being an ol’ lady is like being married in biker law. She may not have Jackson’s last name, but she has his patch on her back, and she’ll have it on her skin soon enough.”

“We all know that Ali is like another daughter to my wife and I, but after meeting all of you and seeing how well you support and protect my baby girl, your family is a part of ours as well. Besides, our families will be joined in marriage at some point, in mafia law that is, since it is already that way in biker law.” My father says.

“Thanks papa Trav. Can we stop with the mushy feely crap? I’m looking to get drunk.” Tiffany says from her perch on Abe’s lap. Looks like she’s found her next victim, but he doesn’t seem to mind much. Everyone laughs and we enjoy the company of each other. Our parents went off to their corner and left us on our own. Tiff and I are well on our way to getting trashed. We’re up dancing and having a grand ol’ time. That is, until a voice brings everything to a halt.

“Evan?”

We’re all sitting around the fire, having a grand ol’ time. After our fathers embarrassed us about when it came our time to take over, the parents went in their own direction while we stayed around the fire. Hannah and Tiffany are well on their way to be trashed, which is fine, but they’re going to feel it come tomorrow when we have to leave for the airport, and it’s only ten o’clock. We decided to leave no later than six in the morning to head to the airport, and by the looks of it, the girls are going to be sleeping, puking, or both. Originally, we were going to wait until next week, but the gun order got pushed to next month, so we decided to leave earlier.

There are quite a few of us going this year. Normally it’s just the nine that hold a seat at the table and their families, but our family has expanded. Now we have the nine with seats, Hannah, Mr. and Mrs. Mason, Evan, Aliana, the five kids, Abe, Doc’s brother, Parker, Hannah’s youngest brother, along with Ghost’s two sisters, and Snoopy’s three brothers. Kai isn’t joining us since he has a lot to do before he takes over for his family, but he’ll be joining us next year. There may be even more of us going in the upcoming years if the brothers’ settle down. Our parents aren’t going to be returning with us because they’re wanting to take an extended vacation. I’m pretty sure that Mr. and Mrs. Mason are planning on joining them as well.

We’re all sitting around the fire, watching Ali, Tiffany, and Hannah dance around like drunken lunatics when a voice brings us all to a stop. “Evan?” We all turn to the familiar voice and watch Evan stand with a confused expression.

“Lyndsay? What are you doing here?” He questions.

“I came to crash after class, so I was here already when we left to go to St. Thomas. I thought you had a family thing tonight?” Lyndsay, Ghost’s sister, asks. I look around and see that I’m not the only one that’s confused, but one look at Ghost and I feel bad for Evan.

“I did. I am. Hannah is my sister.” Her mouth drops into an ‘O’ shape, and he wraps his arms around her waist. “Not that I’m not happy to see you, but what are you doing here babe?”

“Ghost is my brother.” She explains, snuggling into him. “Are you going on the trip too?”

“Yeah sweetheart, I’m going too. I didn’t know until today that we would be joining.” Evan replies. “How are my two favorite people doing?” Lyndsay’s eyes bug out as her gaze snaps to his. I don’t think we were supposed to know whatever that was. Hell, we didn’t even know she was dating anyone.

“Lynd!” Ali goes running towards Lyndsay, breaking the tension. “How do you know Hannah’s brother? I’m glad to see you! You haven’t been around in a while! How’s school? The internship?” She’s talking a mile a minute. “Come have a drink with us. If that little inuendo that I just caught onto is any indication, you can have some of my virgin drink.” She starts to drag her away from Evan before she has a chance to answer any of the questions.

“Babe, let her be.” Axyl says, coming up behind Ali. “You haven’t even let her answer any of the damn questions you asked her.” Ali pouts at her ol’ man before turning towards Lyndsay and apologizing.

“I’d like to know the answers to those questions myself.” Ghost stands up and makes his way over to his baby sister and Evan, who I’m guessing is her boyfriend, and the father to her child.

“Oh shit! He said two favorite people! Evan, did you knock her up!?” Hannah slurred loudly. Yeah, she’s wasted. I reach over and grab her, bringing her down onto my lap, kissing away her protest.

“Explain.” By now, everyone is gathered closely. Travis was the one that commanded the answers. Seems these two are good at sneaking around. Just by looking around at all the faces, no one knew a thing that was going on. Which is surprising because we normally know about everything that happens with our family.

“Well, I met Lyndsay eight months ago when she came into my company looking for an internship to complete her degree. Obviously, she got the internship because I would have been stupid not to give it to her with her resume. We worked closely together and got to know each other over the first few months she was working there. I asked her out to dinner, and it just started from there. She’s the best thing that has happened to me, and then a couple months ago, we found out that she was pregnant. We decided to wait until everything was in clear before we went to the families.” Evan says, not once taking his eyes off her.

“That was my idea. I knew how overprotective you all are over us women, and I didn’t want that until I knew this was going somewhere. Then, we got pregnant, and he explained the way his family was with getting females pregnant, or females getting pregnant.” Lyndsay pauses, looking at her brother. He has a hurt look on his face, but I’m not sure why. “Clinton, please don’t look at me like that. I wanted to tell you, I really did, but I wanted to enjoy it before it all got screwed up with overprotective alpha males. I love him.” Evan brings her head to his chest as she cries.

“What’s your excuse son?” Chelsea asks her son.

“I wanted to be selfish. I wanted her to myself for as long as possible. Then, the baby news came and I just…We just needed to wrap our heads around it. We were so careful. We were always protected, and she was on the pill. It was a shock to both of us. Honestly, we just got over the shock of it all not to long ago and we wanted to bask in the happiness of being new parents before we brought everyone in. I didn’t know who her family was, and she didn’t know who mine was. Of course, we talked about our families, but we never went into detail. We were more interested in getting to know each other.” Evan takes a deep breath and looks at his mom. “I’m really sorry mom. I know I should have told you, but I wanted to be a selfish bastard for a bit.”

Ghost snatches Lyndsay out of Evan’s arms, much to his displeasure, and brings her into his. “You didn’t have to hide this from me. Yeah, I’m overprotective, but I’m your brother, I’m going to be the overprotective asshole. I’m glad you’re happy. That’s all I ever want for any of you guys. You should have known better than that. I’m more pissed that you decided to hide it from me for fucking months, but I understand why you did it. I love you Lyn. Never forget that.”

“Thanks Clint. That’s what I needed to hear.” Lyndsay says, before going back over towards Evan. After everyone gave them hugs in congratulations, we all went back to the party. I’ve notice that the hang arounds and club sluts have been keeping their distance from Hannah and Ali, along with the taken men, but especially Hannah, and from the looks of it, she’s noticed it as well.

“You know, you don’t have to be afraid of me. I don’t just go around shooting people for the fucking fun of it.” Hannah slurs. “The bitch deserved it. Just stay the fuck away from what’s not yours and we’ll be good. Keep your hands off taken men and stick with the ones that want a stretched-out cooch and we won’t have a problem.”

“Oh! That’s a good one. Why didn’t I think of that?” Aliana says before turning towards Axyl with a pout. “I should have thought about that.”

“It’s okay Ali baby. I’m sure you’ll think of a good one.” Axyl says to an almost crying Ali. I give him a sympathetic look because it looks like we’re going to have the emotional Ali tonight.
