More importantly, what’s wrong with this creature? He’s just like Jekyll and Hyde.

“Are you alright, my mate?” he asks, his voice grave.

“What was that?” I ask through panting breaths.

“An allergic reaction to the light,” he replies. “I was afraid of revealing my darker nature.”

“Did you enjoy doing that?”

The monster hesitates, which probably means that he did, but now that his compassion has returned, he isn’t going to admit the other part of his personality is a perverted sadist.

“I regret not explaining this element of our physiology to you verbally,” he finally replies.

“You should have told me yesterday!”

I roll off the side of the bed and fumble about in the dark for my phone. It’s probably lying somewhere, face-down, ready to fill the room with the flashlight at the first sign of jostling. I want it off. Right now. No way do I want to meet the monster’s terrible side again… At least not for a while.

My fingers brush against the handset, which is fortunately now off. Maybe the battery ran out. Maybe it’s broken. I clutch it to my chest and glare through the dark at the tall figure standing on the other side of the room.

“Why did you withhold that information?” I ask.

“Would you have bonded with me if you knew about it?” he asks back.

“Of course not,” I snap, although I’m not entirely sure.

The monster visibly deflates. “Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?”

I’m about to tell him to disappear back through a portal to his dimension, when I pause. Do I really want him to leave? That would mean the end of my pleasure.

“Can you give massages?” I ask.

“Of course,” he replies, his voice more confident. “I have studied multiple ways to please a human woman.”

I place my hands on my hips. “Like what?”

“Human females have almost as many nerve endings on the soles of their feet as they have between their legs,” he says in a voice as dark as the night. “I could pleasure them.”

A foot massage does sound nice. “What else?”

“My tentacles could soothe every orifice, and their ability to relax you is limitless.”

My breath quickens. “Could you give me some of that pheromone?”

“Of course,” he says. “I can produce as much as you like.”

I squeeze my thighs together. “And afterward, will you wrap your tentacles around me in a cocoon?”

He takes a step forward. “Anything you desire.”

The air thickens, or maybe it’s just the tension in the room. Moonlight streams in through the window, illuminating the monster’s head and broad shoulders. Fortunately, this kind of light doesn’t seem to sour his personality.

A little voice in the back of my head asks what the hell I think I’m doing.

If I had any common sense, I’d call for the police, an exorcist, or even Ghostbusters. Nothing good can come of spending a night with a creature capable of turning into an angelic Marquis de Sade, but I really do need a little tender loving care after what he just did.

He hovers closer. “Do I have your permission to proceed?”

“Alright,” I rasp.
