“It’s only the beginning.” The tentacles cocooning my body loosen, only to wrap around my wrists and ankles and pin me spread-eagled across the bed.

It’s like being manacled, only he hovers over me with a devilish grin and eyes that promised mayhem.

“Shit,” I say with a tired groan. “I should have known your nice mood wouldn’t last.”

His wicked laugh makes my hair stand on end. “Now, I’m going to fuck you with my real cock.”

ChapterTwelve

I’m so wet, so ready, so needy that I don’t care if he wants to give it to me good and hard. I just need to be filled.

“Wait a minute,” I stutter. “Which cock?”

Amusement glints in his eyes, tinged with malice. Even though he’s terrifying, a large part of me knows I’ll be safe, if not a little sore.

“Now, it’s time to make you scream,” he says, his voice heavy with lust.

A knock sounds on the door, making us both stiffen.

“There’s another male.” His tone is sharp with accusation.

“How do you know?”

He curls his lip. “The scent.”

“I don’t know who it is,” I whisper, even though it’s probably Mr. Roberts. “But keep going. He’ll soon leave.”

“Alexis.” Mr. Roberts knocks again, this time harder.

“He would dare utter your name?” my mate says, his eyes back to bright blue, all traces of arousal gone.

“It’s just my boss.” Reaching up, I place a hand on his shoulder and stroke up and down his bicep.

“What does that mean?”

“He’s the man who owns the whole building as well as the place where I work.”

“Tell him to find his own mate.”

Mr. Roberts pounds on the door. “Don’t pretend you’re out, when I know you’ve got a man in there. I heard you the entire night.”

My mate lowers himself to the mattress and releases his tentacles, leaving me squirming with a protest. As he rolls off the bed and stalks across the room toward the door, realization hits me with a new wave of terror.

“Where are you going?” I scramble off the bed and hurry after my mate.

“To kill him, of course.”

A second later, the door rattles. I could only guess my mate is trying to open it with one of his invisible tentacles.

“Stop that.” I grab his arm.

He whirls around and fixes me with a look that makes my spine stiffen. “Why are you defending him?”

“You can’t go around killing someone because you find them annoying.”

“Why not?”

Mr. Roberts bangs on the door with both fists. “If I don’t see you at work in the next ten minutes, you’re fired. That means no job, no apartment. Got it?”
