He kisses me, and I feel like the whole world stops for a moment, I feel like there are only two people left in the entire universe and nothing else matters.

"I have an idea," he whispers into my mouth, breaking our kiss. "Why don't we go to the restroom and do something forbidden there instead of talking on the phone?"

He places his hand on my inner thigh and squeezes it a little.

My legs scissor involuntarily.

"If you want someone who’s afraid of flying to agree to have sex with you on a plane, then you need a much bigger jet and way more rum stock," I say with a smile, and Jack starts laughing.

His cell rings again, and he excuses himself to answer.

I’m not offended. It's the middle of the day, and I know he has too much work to turn it off.

That's why I take my own cell and start typing a message.

Dear Virginia,

Thank you so much for this incredible opportunity to work with you.

Unfortunately, I’ve decided to decline your offer.

Because I’ve already agreed on another job.

Your father taught you not to speak from the air, while my dad taught me to keep my word.

I hope you understand, and thank you so much again.

I hope we'll still have an opportunity to work together sometime.

I hit send without hesitation. Not because I haven't considered her offer, but rather because I have. I’ve been thinking about it all day.

Maybe opportunities like that happen once in a lifetime, but so does love. And perhaps someday, if I break up with Jack, I will regret my decision. But I know for sure that I will regret it even more if I choose a job offer over love.

That's why I'm sure I’ve made the right decision.

After a couple of minutes, Jack stops talking on the phone and rises from his seat.

"Where are you going?" I ask, as if there's a lot of options.

"To the restroom, of course." He smiles. "Why? Have you changed your mind and now you want to join me?"

I laugh and shake my head. "No, Mr. Harden, this time you'll have to please yourself."

He laughs at my words and walks away.

I can't believe I'm making jokes about my boss—correction, my strict and stubborn boss who everyone's afraid of.

But now he's not only my boss, but he's also my boyfriend. I’ve never felt the things I feel with him with other man, even my ex-husband.

No, scratch that, Jack Harden is not my boyfriend.

He's my lover.

Lover fits better.

I close my eyes and try to relax when another wave of turbulence shakes the plane.

For some reason, I’m not as afraid of flying as I was before. Somehow, just knowing that Jack is near calms me down. He promised to protect me, and I believe him.
