"I'll give you a chance, Ms. Andrews," I say without letting myself have second thoughts. I know I'll probably regret it, but I also know that for some reason, I can't let her go.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Cold. You won't regret it," she says as if reading my mind and gets up quickly, almost running to the door to get out of here. I watch her hips shake; her tight skirt emphasizes her firm ass perfectly.

And my pants seem to get too tight as I watch her.

"Ms. Andrews," I call before she leaves.

"Yes?" She turns around, expressing surprise on her face.

"You forgot your files." I point with a glance at the folder she left on my desk.

"Oh, right." She comes back, slower this time, and reaches for the folder. "Are you sure you don't want to check it?"

"I've seen enough." I nod, trying to make myself sound casual, even though the only thing I can think of is lifting her skirt and making her scream my name while I fuck her from behind.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for your assignments then." She smiles again before closing the door behind her, and my cock jumps as the answer to that.

Luckily, she wouldn't notice that since my desk is made of wood.

I just offered a job to a woman I want to sleep with but can't.

I’ve completely lost my mind.

Chapter Two

Michelle

Present Time

"I hate him," I retort, unable to stand in line calmly like other people. I am already late for the meeting with Charlotte, a curtain designer. It's the fifth meet-up with her, and it's all Christopher's fault. "I will strangle him if he doesn't like their design this time. Literally: I will grab his tie and start pulling until he loses consciousness."

Flora laughs, her voice filling my earphones, but I only snort irritatedly in response.

"What? I'm serious!" I continue, imagining Christopher Cold choking while I'm killing him.

"Honey, you love your job," my best friend reminds me with a gentle voice, trying to calm me down, "and he pays you extra for every change."

"I know, but it's not the point!" I raise my voice, trying to stop her from defending Christopher.

People in this small café cast weird glances at me because of how loudly I’m speaking.

"He's unbearable, Flo. He acts as if he's the king of the world," I say, quieter this time, even though I still can't hide my irritation. "Do you know what he offered me last week? He says he likes this hotel so much that now he wants to open a chain of them around the US, and maybe the whole world! And he offered to let me design all of them! Can you believe it?"

I pick up my coffee cup, realizing that every person in this room is staring at me. I guess I'll drink my coffee outside.

"Do you mean that he wants to give you another job, and he'll pay you a huge amount of money for it? What a jerk!" Flora laughs again, making fun of me, and I close my eyes for a second so I don’t start screaming.

She just doesn't get it,I tell myself. She's her own boss; she doesn't know how hard it is to work with an arrogant asshole like Christopher.

She has to deal with difficult people all the time; she's a wedding planner,I remind myself, and it calms me down a little.

Flora is not only my best friend, but she's also my wedding planner. And she gave me a massive discount even though she's pretty popular and really doesn't need to do this.

"I'm sorry, I...I don't know what's going on with me when he's near. It's like I can't even stand to be around him." I walk outside to make sure no one hears me the next time I yell.

"Maybe you feel...attracted to him?" Flora asks carefully, and I almost choke from her words.

"No way!" I snort indignantly. "He's not my type at all!"
