CHAPTERFOUR

Felix

I sit across the table from Faye, focusing on my curry and nothing else.

That’s a lie.

I try to focus on nothing else, but I can’t stop thinking about the spark that flared between us when she handed me her phone.

It sent a shockwave right to my manhood, and I had to focus hard – extremely goddamn hard – not to grab her wrist and drag her into my lap.

It was like every primal piece of me was howling, is still howling, demanding that I take her someplace private.

When Lola excuses herself and goes to the bathroom, I’m aware that I’m alone with Faye.

The thoughts return about claiming her and massaging her curvy body.

Holding her as she falls asleep, my face buried in her hair, inhaling her scent as I listen to her breathing get steadier.

What the fuck is happening to me?

No woman has ever made me feel like this.

“Mr. Fallon?” she says softly.

I look up to find her watching me, her head tilted slightly. She’s got a flush to her cheeks, just a little bit, and I find myself thinking about what lens and settings I’d have to use to draw it out. And then I wonder if the rest of her skin would go that teasing shade of red with the proper attention.

An image hits me. Her round, creamy ass, my hand spanking it lightly, a blossom of red as her thighs glisten with her horny wetness.

“Yes,” I say, keeping my expression as neutral as I can.

So she can’t see the hunger eating me up.

“I wanted to say you don’t have to hire me,” she lowers her voice even more. “Lola’s the best friend a person could wish for. I know she probably asked you to help me out. But it’s okay. We can think of an excuse.”

I should tell her yes, we’ll think of one. I should tell her anything that doesn’t end with us working side by side, in close proximity, where Lola won’t be there to interrupt us.

Perhaps I should simply tell her about all these desires hammering into me.

Thatwould get her running.

But I can’t tell her any of that.

My lips are shaping the words before I decide on them. It’s like instinct is driving me, and my only instinct is to stay as close to my woman – my Faye – as I possibly can.

“It’s not a handout,” I tell her. “I meant what I said. Your work does show promise. I’ve got some tasks you’ll be able to help with from the Europe shoot. I was going to hire a freelancer anyway.”

“But if I’m not up to your usual standard,” she says firmly, “you can’t do me any special favors, okay? Please, Mr. Fallon.”

“Call me Felix,” I say with a note of anger.

I try to push it away, so she won’t sense this sudden need in me.

I’m aware of Lola being only in the next room, the toilet flushing. She’s going to be out here any second, and the last thing she’s going to want to see is me staring at her best friend like she’s a meal.

Mymeal. My everything.

The future mother of my children.
