“What?” I whimper. “Sorry.”

My heart starts thundering. My skin is warm with sweat, layers of it sliding down me. My hands tremble, and my thoughts riot.
Has he done this before, with other people? Is this the norm for him?
But, at this moment, with him looking so obsessed with me, I can’t think about that. I can only pray it’s not true.

I flinch, realizing we’ve crossed a threshold.

I moan softly, bite down, and kill the noise. But Felix didn’t miss it. He flinches as though I’m breaking down his restraints.
