EPILOGUE: SEVEN MONTHS LATER

DAISY

“Daddy!” I cry, waving at Max as he walks out of the hotel.

He grins when he sees me and I put the car in park and rush over to him, leaping into his arms. “Daddy!” I cry again.

“Hello, princess,” he says. “How’s my little girl today?”

“Good,” I say, standing on my tiptoes to kiss him. “How was the conference?”

“Great,” he said. “Almost too great.”

“Too great?” I ask. “How can it be too great?”

“Well, I sold every last copy of my book. It’s the closest I’ve come to running out at one of these. I’ll need to print five hundred more for the next conference.”

“Better make it a thousand, Daddy,” I say. “Your agent reached out and said the next event is completely sold out.”

“Already?” he says. “That’s fantastic!”

He gets in the car and I drive him back to the RV park. He works on getting the car set up to tow behind the RV while I disconnect everything and get the motorhome ready to move. I’m a little unsure about the size of the thing. It’s almost thirty feet long and a lot more spacious than my old camper shell. Then again, I guess a married woman needs a little more room than a single girl.

When we’re all set up, I climb into the driver’s seat and Daddy gets into the passenger’s seat. He usually lets me drive since I enjoy it so much. I glance at the signed copy of his book sitting on the center console and smile at the title. Less is More: How Learning to Let Go Can Make You Happier and More Successful. It’s his second book and it’s by far my favorite. I look up at him and smile. We share a kiss and I say, “I love you, Daddy.”

He smiles and says, “I love you too, little girl.”

Then I start the engine and we’re off to our next adventure.
