Sebastian was wearing a nice polo, and dressed up for the party. I’m glad at least he got the memo.

“Dinner’s ready,” He popped his head out of the kitchen and announced.

We all followed Abigail into the dining room and took our seats. It was already feeling pretty awkward, so someone needed to break the silence.

“So what do you do for a living Renee?” I asked, with a fake smile.

For a moment, her gaze was locked on mine.“Uhm-—I’m a dermatologist. It’s a promising career. You?”

I didn’t like the way her eyes danced up and down with evil looks shot my way. “I’m a partner at a law firm.” Were we trying to prove who was better?

After, there was no speaking, only eating in silence while Sebastian flashed a couple of subtle glances at me.

After dinner, we made our way into the den for some wine and for gift swapping. I could tell Sebastian was nervous to give Renee her gift, so I gave him mine.

He opened the box to find motorcycle keys.

“This is incredible. I can’t believe you did this. Thank you so much.” He said, hugging me.

I could tell Renee wasn’t too happy with the gift I gave him, but I didn’t see her bring anything inside. Everyone could tell she was eager to open her gift.

Sebastian handed her the bag and said, “I hope you like it.”

She opened the bag and once she caught a glimpse of what was inside, her facial expression changed instantly. Not pleased.

“Really, Sebastian? Perfume?” She said, with her face getting red.

“Yes, I wasn’t sure what to get you.” He replied, realizing she didn’t like it.

“What about diamonds or some type of jewelry?”

This girl was insane. Diamonds? I don’t know any man that bought diamonds after a month of dating. My inner bitch couldn’t keep her mouth shut.

“Listen here, you ungrateful bitch, go take the perfume and shove it up your ass!” I screamed.

Renee scoffed and said, “I can’t do this anymore. I deserve better.”

This woman was psycho. He didn’t have to get her anything. He’s better off without her.

He was sitting on the couch in shock. I plopped down next to him, “How about we go for a bike ride? Get some fresh air.”

He nodded.

“Hey guys, we’re going to take off.” Abigail hugged me and we left down the driveway to look at his beautiful new bike. “I don’t understand why I keep choosing crazy women?”

“You’re an attractive man and women flock to you. Everyone has bad luck until they find the right one. Don’t worry, you’ll find her.” I, so badly, wanted to shake him and say I’m right here, but I didn’t.

At this point, he was merely staring at me. He gets closer, sways in and kisses me. It was a gentle and passionate kiss. Suddenly, he pulled away and started apologizing. “I’m ashamed. Kissing you is unacceptable.” He said, as he stepped away from me.

My heart was racing, hoping he would kiss me again. Just one more time. Instead he got on his bike, and raced away.
