Will you marry me?

My eyes peered up at him, and he had a little black box. Inside was the most beautiful ring.

"So, will you marry me?" he asked, slipping the ring on my finger.

"Of course, I will. Yes! On one condition, you go on that trial run.”

SEBASTIAN WAS GOINGto Africa for a trial run before he made the significant decision that will affect both our lives. He would be gone for six weeks—the longest we’d ever been apart.

I was thrilled he got offered this chance to live his dream. Plus, this was one of his goals in life. He always wanted to assist foreign children. He heard from other doctors that have gone who said it was a gratifying experience. He’d been waiting for this opportunity for years.

I started packing his bags for him because he leaves tonight. He poked his head in the doorway and asked, “May I interrupt?”

I tilted my head to the side and popped my hip out. “Really, Sebastian? You can’t go to Africa with empty bags! You hadn’t packed a thing. You can’t go exposed. Don’t think the children will appreciate that much. Do you?”

“I know, I know, but I can’t resist you. And I can’t leave without making love to you one last time. Please take a break. I promise you won’t regret it.”

He strode across the bedroom and swept me up into his arms as if I weighed nothing and threw me on the bed. I caressed his cheek and crooned, “I love you, Sebastian.”

Afterwards, we laid there scared of what was going to happen next? Will things be the same when he gets back?

We both got to put our clothes back on. It was time to take Sebastian to the airport. He couldn’t be late. This was the last flight out tonight. Although I wouldn’t mind having one more day with him before he left.

We put his bags in the back of the car and headed to the airport to drop him off.

We pull up to the airport, and Sebastian gets out with his duffel bag.

“I am going to miss you, but I’ll only be gone a couple of weeks. I’ll be back before you know it. Heck, you might even enjoy not having me around.”

I kissed him, “Just don’t forget about me. Call me as often as you can and enjoy yourself. Don’t worry about me, I will be fine. I want you to be happy and enjoy it. You deserve this babe. You have worked so hard to get to this point. I’m so proud of you.”

He gave me a kiss. As he started to walk away, I handed him the half-naked photo of me, “This will help while you’re gone.”

Observing him walking into the airport makes my heart sink. What was I going to do for the weeks to come? Pour myself into my work. If I stay busy, it will go by faster, and then he will be home soon enough.
