She gives me a radiant smile which tells me she loves the idea. “Thank you, Jay.”

My chest swells with pride, and I return her smile before finally coming back to my senses. I clear my throat. “If you need anything, I'm down the hall.”

I force myself to leave her room, praying a bit of space will help this insane attraction.

I haven’t been in my room for long, willing my dick to go down, when I hear the shower turn on. Images of her naked body flash through my mind, and it’s all I can do not to rub one out while imagining the water sliding down her supple young flesh.

With a scowl, I strip down to my boxers and slide into bed, determined not to masturbate to thoughts of the innocent young girl down the hall in my home.

Those perky breasts.

That perfect ass.

Those innocent eyes.

That sinful mouth.

The way she asked me to take her on a date.

Fuuuck.

I remind myself I've got work in the morning, and Layla has school. If that contrast doesn't make my dick go down, nothing will.

Layla

Thunder booms again, and I jump. Call me a baby, but I've always hated storms. I hop out of bed with barely a thought and run down the hall to Jay’s room. I don't even knock on the door before I go flying through it.

Jay sits up in bed, immediately alert, his big chest heaving up and down. “Layla, what's wrong?”

I finally skid to a stop at the side of his bed and shuffle my feet nervously. I bite my lip, feeling ridiculous. “It's storms,” I whisper. “I hate them.”

Jay’s eyes soften, and he lets out a breath. His shoulders relax once he realizes there’s no real danger. “It's okay, princess. The storm can't hurt you.”

When I keep standing there uncertainly, Jay looks up at me, his eyes sweeping over me from head to toe. I blush when I realize I'm wearing nothing but a tiny tank top and a pair of panties. It's what I sleep in, and I didn't think twice about what I was wearing before I skittered over here like a frightened mouse.

Jay grips the covers in his hands as another flash of lightning illuminates the room, followed by a crack of thunder.

With a squeal, I slide beneath the covers with Jay. He immediately stiffens and pulls away from me like he's been burned. I'm so frightened that his withdrawal doesn’t register enough to hurt my feelings.

“What are you doing?” His voice is raspy, and it makes my toes curl. Gosh, I love Jay’s deep, masculine voice.

“Can I sleep here with you, Jay? Please?” I beg him, terrified to be alone.

“Fuck, Layla.” Jay runs a hand over his face. “This isn't appropriate.”

“Please? I’m scared.” I’m not lying. Not only am I in a new place, but storms terrify me.

Jay frowns when he notes my trembling form. “God, Layla, look at you. You're trembling.” He sighs and looks at me with soft, sympathetic eyes. “You’re genuinely scared of storms?”

I nod again.

He sits in indecisive silence before letting out a long exhale and lying down.

My heart leaps in victory.

He keeps a careful distance between us as he says, “Yes, you can sleep in here, but only for tonight.”
