“I mean, it’s nice to know.” I try not to smile like a total nerd, but I can’t help it. Knowing I pleased him brings me deep satisfaction. Maybe one day, I’ll have the time and energy to figure out what all of this means.
Right now, I’m exhausted, even after the nap we took earlier today. I can’t believe we were in the motel only hours ago. When I yawn, Colten pulls me closer. “Try to get some sleep. Tomorrow, we’ll figure out what to do next.”
“I trust you.” I don’t know where that came from, only that it felt right. I do trust him. I know he’ll come up with something to get us out of this.
I mean, that’s how it has to be. Because there’s no way I’ll be able to live the rest of my life without him. The knowledge settles over me as I close my eyes and drift off to sleep in his arms.
